Well I was on the stansted express and thought of this thread.

Really enjoyed that it had plug sockets so I could charge my phone.

I thought I'd see what was kicking off in blondes most popular thread ever and first thing I see is photos of thousands of naked men. And boshi posting a lot.

Hmm.

Imagine roads are the Internet, bridges are web browsers, gantries are applications...

Actually, never mind.

Thought your explanation was excellent actually boshi. Both of them!

Agree, definitely better than the explanations we were given in IT classes at school

I did IT at school and I remember no mention of the internet although I do vaguely remember mentions of email.  Looking back I have literally no idea what we were taught.  Was the internet a stunning omission bearing in mind I left school in 1992?

I was at uni from '94-97, and remember that the web was still very much in its infancy, and of course there was no Google then (Yahoo! and Altavista were the search engines of choice).  Finding useful stuff on the web wasn't easy, and although I had an old, second-hand laptop, we had no internet connection at any of the houses I lived in and data was transferred to and from the laptop (which was more of a glorified word-processor) with a 3½-inch floppy disk.  Most of the email that I sent at the time was via the internal university network - rather than via the internet.

I remember one of the modules that everyone in the Management School had to do was Management Information Technology - but all that covered was Microsoft Office really, so how to use Excel, Word, Powerpoint and a bit of Access. Very little at all about the internet.

What!!!! say it aint so err Tony. You hate The Smiths but like Radiohead?

Controversial day in horse racing Tony, Frankel has now been given a rating that makes him the highest ever rated flat horse but only because they have decided to retrospectively reduce the ratings of the other top horses from decades ago. For example Shergar now has a rating 4 pounds less than it has had since 1981 or 1982 on 136. Harbinger tho who it could be argued put up a fluke figure and didn't get a chance to prove it was right has stayed on the same mark of 135.

Dancing Brave who has been the highest rated horse since 1986  ish has just had 3 pounds knocked off his rating too to 138, I would fancy DB and Shergar to give 3 and 1 pound to Harbinger for my life.

Would love to see what Chompy thinks about this.
