Not likely I'll be doing the 2-1-4-3 thing tbf. Very much not a me thing, that.
Not at all surprised, as you are a Pembroke chap, but very glad to hear it.
It is the sort of uncouth thing an
Emanuelle
chap might say though.

No no no, Ed, think at a higher level.
It was a deliberate ruse - truly - to see if you ventured into these lesser, but more discrete, Diaries, & I thought the best way to find out was to lay a little groundbait.
I'm honoured you looked in, just got to get The Father in now & my life will be complete.
Ah yis, I appear to have been whooshed. My rather loutish baiting of Tal on the quiz thread. I promise that will stop now lest Father Gascoigne set the Westfield Comp boys on me.
Avid browser, rare contributor on this thread I believe would describe my participation best
Think the Father does pop in from time to time - he was most pleased to see the photos/discussion of intricately decorated toilets of the world a while back if my memory serves me correctly.
Any chance we can borrow Jeeves for our jaunt to Deauville or must I employ the services, as per Tittybean's request, of Fink-Nottle as scribe?
Borrow Jeeves? Hmm, let me cogitate on that briefly.
When do you plan to travel, & by what means? This could make the difference.

Jeeves could drive them to Deauville.

Not sure if Jeeves shares your for predilection for trains but if so he'd be rather disappointed.
The Father, Alex and I are meeting at Swanley on the evening of Wednesday 30th before driving to Folkestone, hopping on the Eurotunnel over and then heading as far as Le Touquet that evening (one of the Gascoignes' all time favourite Northern French seaside destinations).
Then on the morning of the Thursday blasting down the coast in enough time to register the comp and grab a quick crème before a noon start.
I'm sure Jeeves is welcome to play piggy-in-the-middle in the backseat if he likes?!

I must have come across this guy at some point in my mis-spent youth as I used to frequent every single one of the clubs that he mentions although The Mazurka was just a poker venue when I was a regular, Pepe still played most nights.

Good read Ralph
would you have known a craps dealer, named Steve Khan (sp?), from Charlie Chesters , he used to work there around that time.
He was working in Goa for a while and told me a few stories about those days

I knew all the dice-dealers from Chester's really well in the late 1960's so I must have known him Craig as I was absolutely sick for dice in those days. I can't put a face to the name though.
The casino was open 24/7 at that time and the shifts changed every eight hours. One day I was still there at the dice-table when the original shift came back that was there at the start of my session.
And to think that these days I moan about having to stay up until 5am for poker.

Not sure that would even have made an episode of Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club!

The Internet killed off all that sort of stuff, and now we no longer have the skills.

I saw an advert today that Britain's Got Talent is back on our screens soon so you might be proved wrong there.
"Hello. I'm Brian. Today, I am going to display my talent of identifying basilica from a picture of the architraving"
This wasn't the advert. Artistic licence.

Yes, that was Sue Lawley, aged 30 at the time.
Hard to believe she is 65 now.
