Poor Tikay's diary takes a sudden detour into profanity.....

Would never happen on the more highbrow threads with a more artistic, less industrial content.....

Unbelievable. Profanity free zone for 6 years, destroyed in an afternoon. To rub salt into the wound, the Views shot up.

And barely a word about dear Michaela.

Pretty sure she was introduced to blonde by a guy from "WorldOfPokerTV" by a guy called "Cool Blonde", who was, if I recall correctly, a wee Scottish person.

Some well-executed profanity ITT.

None of that superfluous nonsense that you get on other threads.

Almost Tuckeresque levels of execution here.

Is this where I post my official concrete complaints?  Why do repairs always take so long?

As I drive along the M27 each morning and evening I'm now having to pass through a section of 50 MPH zone for the next 6 months while they do what they call "pier repairs".  Looking at the work they are doing it appears that a pier is a bridge / flyover support structure.

What appears to be happening at the moment is one of three things.  They are either

1. Drilling out large sections of the concrete to no doubt patch it up later.
2. Building some sort of scaffolding network into the concrete supports.
3. Bolting some form of steelwork to the concrete which looks like it's designed to hold the concrete together.

All of these fixes would in my mind seem very temporary and would surely need reworking in not many years time at all.

Surely there are better options these days?

If I were to be doing this I'd do the following

1. Precast interlockable concrete blocks of various height so all height of bridge are supportable with various block size combinations.
2. Use a hydraulic jack of some sort to lift the section of bridge a few cm up. (This must be possible as all bridges are built with some flexibility and surely there are jacks with the capability to lift this sort of weight)
3. Remove the old failing concrete supports.
4. Make good the base and top where the pillar used to be.
5. Truck in and slide into place the new interlocking concrete blocks.
6. Use an adjustable spacer (I've seen these so they exist) at the top if necessary to make good the height.

2,3,4 should be possible on the first day, 5 and 6 on day two.

Much in the same way they have changed from using Armco for central reservation dividers to those interlocking concrete blocks why don't they do the same for supports?

And this is what I've been thinking about while stuck in the 50 MPH zone for the last 2 weeks.  Only 5 months or so to go.

Did she mention me, Tom?

PS - you look very slim, and healthy there. Was it taken several years who?

PPS - Your daughter is looking, as always, splendid. Long suffering, but splendid.

apropros nothing in particular, I was watching a few music videos last night, & was reminded of a young lady I used to have the hots for, big time.

This photo was taken last year I think.

Anyone recognize her?

She was the only female Member of a band who were, for a while, very well known.

Am confident that even Tighty won't get this.

Sleaze?

It was her mind, & her stage personna I had the hots for.

Do behave.

Anyway, you have no idea who she is, I must assume.

Member of a very famous 90's band.

I don't know, but it couldn't be Siouxsie minus her Banshees could it?

would account for not having a clue who she is minus the stage make up

No, a much more talented band.

I'll stick a "then" photo up shortly.
