Weird coincidence given that he has been mentioned on Blonde over the last week or so, but I see Woody Deck has been having issues at the Nugget this summer.

This thread was posted on 2p2 in the 'Grand Poker Series' thread, but I didn't realise 'CrazedZach' is Woody for a good while.

And I know I'm going to regret this, but what is Glitter Gulch?

Tal theories so far range from a children's play area to a nightclub.

It's not an open-minded lady bar is it? What in heaven's name is a Gulch? Sounds like a fish to me.

It used to be great when I first went there c1994/5.

It's a lap-dancing club but they have bouncers outside these days and I've not been even sightly tempted to walk through the doors on my last few visits, mind you given the right company and circumstances....

I had a wander down Fremont Street during the dinner break yesterday (thin brag, made the dinner break....) & discovered this place you speak of, I think.

Is this it?

Is "Glitter" associated in any way with the singer of that name? I don't even want to know what "Gulch" means, thanks.

Tony, something has been nagging me for a day or two.

Do you need me to send you by special delivery the lucky book with the chapter that you used to read every night before you went to sleep last year?

I'm starting to feel ever so slightly guilty about asking for it back.

PS It's probably best not to tell kinboshi that you returned my book.

Ha! Yeah, that may be the answer, Ralph.

Don't think I'm playing bad, but then we never do, do we?

Anyway, for Ralph only, & maybe Tom, do you recognize this chap?

His name is Henry, & is he is, by a country mile, the best dealer I have encountered in Vegas, or maybe anywhere for that matter.

Keeps the game flowing, fast as lghtning, articulates every bet, is ahead of everyone n knowing what happens next, knows the Pot size instantly in PL games, & does the split pots in the blink of an eye.

The first dealer at our PLO table yesterday was, truly, the worst dealer I have ever seen. Not even close.

The poor girl would never make a dealer even if she was trained for a year, she just did not get it.

But the lovely thing was that the whole table understood. It was not her fault, not one bit, & this was downtown Vegas, not an EPT.

Was pretty chuffed to see everyone behaving so sensibly & politely as she struggled with every action, & everyone helped, such as they could. She KNEW she was awful, too, poor kid.

Not nice to see, but great to see such empathy from the players.

Sorry to return to what many must think is a very mundane matter, but this small plane crash thing has been bugging me.

In these parts, we refer to "small planes" as "light planes", so I tried the Charlie Munger obverse trick & turned the problem round the other way.

I wonder what our American friends would think if they saw the headline....

Light 'plane crash

Was half-watching the local TV news channel somewhere yesterday, & caught this really really weird headline, which I cant stop thinking about.

Guess it is just because we use the language in different ways to those in America, but it sort of tickled me. But not those involved.

Small plane crash

Still trying to get my head round that. How small can a 'plane crash be? Just a little bump, was it?

Enjoying the updates a lot.

Perhaps whenever you're playing and you're at a table with a 'name' in poker you could think of an appropriately probing question to ask each of them.  Then report back, try not to get any penalties though.  No penalties so far this year I notice, must be on your best behaviour?

Not sure of you were aware but there is a new Channel 4 documentary on over the last 2 weeks with 2 more episodes still to air?

It's called Terror In The Air and it's pretty incredible viewing.

High (low?) lights so far:

Watching footage of a man on board flipping out and shouting, "there's Iran, there's Afghanistan, we have to go down, down now!".  He gets tacked to the ground by other passengers and then the narrator of the show announces it was the captain of the flight who was flipping out!  The co-pilot had noticed he was acting erratically and managed to get him out of the cockpit and locked the door.

Watching flights landing in strong cross winds, seeing a plan coming in to land at a 30 degree angle and then straightening up at the last second, looks totally mad.

Then there is the captain and his copilot who didn't answer ATC calls for 90 minutes after passing their destination.  Eventually they respond and report they had "difficulties in the cockpit".  ATC press them for an explanation which they never give.  It turns out both captain and co-pilot were working on their laptops while the plane was on auto-pilot and missed all landing warnings and calls from ATC.

If you didn't series link it before you left then it's available online:

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/terror-in-the-skies

Thanks Aaron.

Don't think it is the same thing, but a friend is recording for me a new weekly series about Heathrow, which also looks rather good.

The sheer size of Heathrow is mind-boggling.

Must be a first.

WhatEVER you do, if you engage Marcel in convo, do NOT mention FIDPA. You'll regret it if you do, I promise you.

I made that mistake when interviewing him in Barcelona in about 2004, & the cameraman ended up growing a beard whilst Marcel went on a monologue of epic proportions.

More recently, he "invented" & patented a board game, & he asked if he could come on Channel 861 as a Guest to promote it.

"Show me" I said, & so he produced this board game in a box from a carrier bag. Standard thing, dice, questions, but poker based.

On the front, it said suitable for players aged 5 to 15

I really struggled to explain to him why that might not wash on Sky Poker, or any responsible TV Channel......

Have to admire his boundles passion though, & I find him great table company, & I do like him.

I covered myself, I did it both ways!

Anyway, shush, or we'll have Boshi & JonMW on here arguing about the finer points.

I MUCH prefer the correct version, though.

Many congrats to Chompy, who played FIVE Vegas Tourneys yesterday, bust the first 4, then chopped the fifth FIFTEEN ways.

Legend.

I could actually hear him whining & wailing for the chop from my Table downtown. He was at Venetian.
