Vegas 2014, End Of Term Report (cont'd).

Sat next to another fascinating character, this was in the $3,000 WSOP PLO8.

We struck up a nice chatty relationship. He was obviously loaded, as he said if he busted,  he'd be playing the One Drop Satellite ($25,000 - for a SATELLITE) & he had just busted the $100,000 thing @ Bellagio.

He was a Texan, & beamed with pride as he endlessly discussed his 2 daughters. He never seemed to stop smiling, was friendly to all, & took his beats in his stride, like a proper grown up.

We shared the Day One table for 4 or 5 hours, & had a great time.

Anyway, I returned for Day 2 (only just realised I made Day 2 of both WSOP PLO8 Events, & busted both within 3 hands, yikes), & the geezer came across to my table to wish me luck. A complete stranger until the previous day, now he looked me up to wish me well. Love live poker.

I asked around, & discovered it was this man, who won a Lowball WSOP thing a few years ago, & made the same Final again this year....

Some googling took me to this typically well written piece by Nolan Dalla, a good pal of many years standing, more on him later.

I hope you take a minute or two to read that, it's a grand story.

His transport business was called, predictably enough, Rite-Way.

Pretty cool truck, huh?

Did he flog that truck to Chris Eubank?

Without googling, which is the only underground station that doesn't use any of the letters that make up the word 'mackerel'?

I've got a privet that bloomed a while ago. Today it's covered in bees and butterflies.

I wonder if it's because the pollen has just become ready for distribution? (Well I guess that's kind of obvious) but I wonder what changed between yesterday and today?

Did the pollen suddenly become more palatable, or was it 'released by the plant? Was nectar offered as an incentive?

Grest post, lovely Photos, but probably on the wrong Diary, unless you have at last come to accept that this is the best.

I imagine this is always the first thread you open, perfectly understandably.

In all seriousness, you seem to have gotten your second wind where writing is concerned. Not that there was ever anything wrong with it, it's always been excellent, but you seem to have increased both in quality and quantity just lately.

Do you agree? If yes then why so?

Not sure I agree, or if it is true, I sort of just go from day to day of late.

I have been doing a lot more writing for Next Door lately though, as my remit there has changed somewhat.

They urged me to get a Magazine column a while back, which I managed to do with Bluff Europe. It was originally a one-off, but they asked me to continue indfefinitely. I suspect Lord Channing put a word in there.

I am writing a bunch of stuff for SportingLife.com, too, 5 articles so far, with 5 more going in on Monday. It has HUGE readership & superb SEO. It's real purpose is to assist with "clicks" & google rankings. It is not good to read, not at all, but it takes a bit of thought, time & care to ensure that it sort of seamlessly includes keywords such as poker, online poker, freerolls, Texas Hold Em, that sort of stuff. It gets no feedback though, not even from the Office, which is a bit soul destroying.

I did 6 pieces for SkySports.com too, gawd knows what happened to them, I sent them to Head Office & never saw them again, lol. They might be there, but I can't find them.

I enjoyed writing the Blogs from Vegas. I was not even being paid to write them, I was officially "on holiday" & unpaid, though I had a nice surprise upon my return when Lord Suit said they would be paying me.

I think when we write Posts (most of us, certainly me) on Internet Forums, we are a bit rushed, & lazy, we dont hone them, or fiff faff & fettle. Pleno, for example, does not generally take much care on blonde, not "technically" with his Content, but his Poker Strategy stuff is immaculate. Not a dig at Plenners, he'll know what I mean.

I most enjoy writing stuff such as the Larry Wright piece I did on Thursday, or the Taylor Paur piece earlier in the week, but they never get any replies or comment, so it sort of suggests people don't find them interesting. Generally, when we write, we want people to read & enjoy it.

I have enough material from Vegas to do several more Blogs, & continue my "End of Term Staking Reports", but I'm not sure I will, they don't seem to attract much comment. Conversely, I've been playing my little PLO8 DYM's Next Door since I got back home,  & loads of the regulars have told me how much they enjoyed the Vegas Blogs, it is the vicarious thing, as I deliberately target them towards those who have never been to Vegas, & probably never will.

I want to be able to write better, & get that book done, but I just don't have the breadth of vocab. I am experimenting with using a Thesaurus when writing, to try & get away from hackneyed expressions. sick, so so sick, joke, what a douche......Ugh, that stuff drives me nuts.

There you go, you set me off there.

I suppose I could always post a photo of a Football Ground from 1980 & get 4 pages of responses, or a photo of 4 young ladies, & someone will reply "3-4-1-2".

sick, so so sick....
