Paid my penny but found no loo paper..

I can remember Keith The Camel once saying that he had played poker with three subsequently convicted murderers, the two whom you mentioned and another one who's name escapes me.

The third one was a chap called Richard Orford....he murdered the Big Breakfast show back in the eighties.

On a serious note, enjoyed (again) reading your tales of old. You really need to look at penning a book like folk keep suggesting. Have you looked into this Tikay? Would it be something you would really want to do or just a maybe? You could get Jeeves to co write it to ease the work load Wink

you might like this one

warren buffet is in miami supporting the dophins as ndamokong suh, their big defensive signing is a cornhusker and so is buffet

buffet is 85

the nfl network reported asks buffet for an interview, buffet agrees

at the end of the interview the reporter jokingly gives warren a dollar bill as the interview fee

buffet pockets it, and walks away!

Typical Warren story. Extraordinary man for his age. Despite Berkshire Hathaway being such a huge outfit these days, his Head Office staff still only numbers a dozen or so. Does that include a PR Department? No thank you. Might just start a "5 most admired businesses" thread. BH will be close to the top.

I saw that photo on the ESPN or NFL "score" pages on Sunday night, when I was sweating my NFL Last Longer team, & I was puzzled by the reference to Mr Suh, as a "fellow cornhusker".

Am I the only one who never knew what a "cornhusker" was?

Anyway, thank goodness for Wiki.

I started doing a bit of running about 18 months ago and do parkrun most Saturday's. I am big fan of them, they are very inclusive events and have a sense of community about them that is sometimes missing from modern society. Not sure exactly where you live but sounds like south west London, bushy park and Richmond park have parkruns.

I have done a few 10ks and they had water stations, where there are glasses of water lined up for runners to take on board during the run and afterwards. I must admit I find it hard to take on water during a run and have found doing 10ks that I didn't need it as long as I hydrated before and after the run.

Regarding supporting Gill,I would say just being there and being supportive will be enough. It sounds like she is building up the miles correctly in training and that will pay off on the day.

She has become totally obsessed with the running (jogging really), which can't be bad, as it's healthy.

She only began whilst I was in Vegas, after she had returned home. We generally chat all evening on "I-Pad message" but I was not around, so she found something more interesting......

Now, less than 3 months later, she routinely jogs 6 miles & thinks nothing of it.

Anyway, Richmond Riverside Run is booked, now she is looking at 2 more, the Osterley Park 10k later this year, & the Hampton Court Half Marathon in February.

Got herself a special "running watch" last night, gawd knows what it does, but it cost about £100, & supposedly records all the data.

She is forever disappointed in her times, but I just try to re-assure her - it's not about racing at all.

This is the sort of data her mobile phone GPS thing gives her, & she studies it like poker players study Hand Histories. It is "jogging", not running, it's not like she is a teenager. It means a great deal to her, so I'll do all the encouragement I can.

I want to, Alan, & I have more interesting tales than enough, but I'm slowly realising, as I read more & more, that I just don't have an adequate  lexicon.

Am reading another Bryson book at the moment, & he has this knack of throwing in a cheery adjective, just one word, that transforms a dull sentence into an interesting one, brings it to life so to speak. You & I might mention, after a walk in the country, seeing a stream, but Bryson would call it a "chuckling stream".

So no, probably not, but it's a shame, as I'd love to.

I did make a start a while back, but, you know, life gets in the way of life. I could do it at evenings, of course, but I need my daily poker fix most evenings, where I sit there for 3 hours & win £10 or £15, which is ridiculous really. But I am so happy sitting there playing smallball poker, it's immensely satisfying, & there are not many things I'm still able to win at, so it gives me a good feeling.   On a good night, I might make £40, & I go to bed thinking YES. Most odd really.

The red bits speak a thousand words. Please give it some serious thought. Put it on a list of stuff to do in 2016. Look into getting assistance in setting the whole thing up/helping with the contents/putting the bells and whistles on it all. It matters not how well it 'sells' as it will be a personnel thing/ambition of yours.

In other news......(which will hopefully make you smile), Facebook went down y/day for a short time. The thing most trending on twitter? #facebookdown  Wink

I find with online players some are very well known and promote themselves with blogs/diaries etc or they are in the GIQ brigade and you know little more than an online alias.

They should do a rankings list for people who played poker before all the young'uns rocked up and starting grunt-merging at us.

Disagree that you don't have appropriate lexicon to write a book Tikay.

There's a definite simplicity in your writing, stripped of all verbosity and plumage, which lets the reader focus on the story, not the yarn, if that makes sense. It's rather beautiful, and I love reading it.

If you write a book id be one of the first to preorder, but if you don't, please continue to tell stories in here!

I can't remember where I heard this, but someone one said something along the lines of, "I can't be doing with all that arty farty writing. Just tell us the facts".

The more I look at it the more I like it. I used to do a bit myself in the day and to run for 1hr 40 mins is no mean feat, please pass my congrats to her.  I have recently been doing a bit with my Daughter who went from Couch to 5k and is now doing her first half ( Marathon) this week.  Running is some form of drug for sure.

Should get a dictaphone and whilst playing, dictate your book, then pass to a ghostwriter (or Jen Mason) to tidy it up!
