Should get a dictaphone and whilst playing, dictate your book, then pass to a ghostwriter (or Jen Mason) to tidy it up!

Also, you can end each chapter with needless to say I had the last laugh!

I did make a start a while back, but, you know, life gets in the way of life. I could do it at evenings, of course, but I need my daily poker fix most evenings, where I sit there for 3 hours & win £10 or £15, which is ridiculous really. But I am so happy sitting there playing smallball poker, it's immensely satisfying, & there are not many things I'm still able to win at, so it gives me a good feeling.   On a good night, I might make £40, & I go to bed thinking YES. Most odd really.

Tuesday - lost £50, one of my biggest losing nights in those games.

Even Doobsy turned up in one of the £11 games, & busted me very first hand. Well I bust myself really with a daft play, but it makes no odds. Don't need these proper players queering my pitch. Bloody Pros.

Disagree that you don't have appropriate lexicon to write a book Tikay.

There's a definite simplicity in your writing, stripped of all verbosity and plumage, which lets the reader focus on the story, not the yarn, if that makes sense. It's rather beautiful, and I love reading it.

If you write a book id be one of the first to preorder, but if you don't, please continue to tell stories in here!

I'd agree there's a definite simplicity.

But thank you anyway.

Bit harsh comparing yourself to bryson!

More than good enough to do it

Not comparing myself to him, just explaining that these "pro writers" are different gravy.

He was describing a well dressed chap in a chapter of "Walk in the Woods" I was reading last night, & he said the guy was wearing "a plump cravat".

See how much difference it makes if you add an unusual adjective? I only know 3 adjectives.

Anyway, never mind that, when do you expect to be out of hospital? It's been a long while, & I hope you will soon be as right as rein.

Am reading another Bryson book at the moment, & he has this knack of throwing in a cheery adjective, just one word, that transforms a dull sentence into an interesting one, brings it to life so to speak. You & I might mention, after a walk in the country, seeing a stream, but Bryson would call it a "chuckling stream".

I can't remember where I heard this, but someone one said something along the lines of, "I can't be doing with all that arty farty writing. Just tell us the facts".

Nope, I give up Tom, been racking my brains all night. Who said it?

I'm not talking about reams & reams of waffle, just those little words that bring a sentence to life.

The more I look at it the more I like it. I used to do a bit myself in the day and to run for 1hr 40 mins is no mean feat, please pass my congrats to her.  I have recently been doing a bit with my Daughter who went from Couch to 5k and is now doing her first half ( Marathon) this week.  Running is some form of drug for sure.

I was thinking about that post a lot yesterday, & yes, it is a sort of addictive drug, exactly as poker or crown green bowling is I suppose - but at least it's healthy.

Her new fancy dan watch arrived yesterday, so more cooing & wooing went off over the internet as she told me all about it.

And your post made me realise why I'm tickled pink by the whole thing. It's like a non-sexual version of that Jarvis Cocker ditty, "do you remember the first time?"

And that's why I'm so chuffed about it, as I remember so many of my "first times".

My Grandad took me to Stamford Bridge to see my first ever football match, it was an evening game, frosty, Chelsea v Man U, & there were some 80,000 spectators there. I'd be about 6 or 7 I suppose. Busby was in charge of Man U, so it must have been pre 1957. I'd never been in a crowd before, never seen such a pristine area of mown grass, never seen those oh-so exciting floodlights. My mouth was agog all match, even the walk back down Fulham Palace Road, clutching my programme, & walking with all the fans who were chatting away. It was magnificent, & I've enjoyed football ever since.

My first game of snooker, wow, the clink of balls, those lovely soft acoustics we get in a snooker hall, & shady creatures hanging around chatting up the bar staff. Jeez, it was so great.

My first round of golf, I remember every footstep to this day. Standing on the Tee, proper golf bag, shoes, shirt, all the gubbins. What a thrill. Going in the revered Clubhouse afterwards, with all the posh people. Me. There was a downside, too - one of THE most repulsive sights you will ever see is the Men's locker room of a Golf Club on Seniors Day. Men over the age of 50 should NEVER prance around naked, trust me.

My first Live TV thing, I was so excited, so nervous.

These are periods & moments in our life we never ever forget. And that's what Gill is going through now, her competing & running "first time". And I'm enjoying it more than she is, just seeing her so revved up means so much, it must be like a Mum or Dad when their kids first play football for a team or whatever.

Guess I should add to that my first ever poker tournament, I barely slept for the next 2 nights, I was so excited, all those dodgy sorts upstairs in Colyer Street Derby.

And tonight, at about 5pm, I'll log on & play a little smallball session - & I'm looking forward to it already, I adore playing it even now.

When I (too rarely, sadly) play "Live Poker", I have to go for a wee about 3 times before the first break, as I'm so nervous & excited.

Paid my penny but found no loo paper..

I can remember Keith The Camel once saying that he had played poker with three subsequently convicted murderers, the two whom you mentioned and another one who's name escapes me.

Was this the name you or His Camel-ness had in mind?

Thought I'd give one a go and say hello.  Of course was inevitable we clashed first hand.  Probably not the best plan for each of us in a double or nothing! I hung round for another the next day but the £10 one never started.  Must have scared all the locals with my new 100% record.

Might give it a go another day.

I remember playing with him(Maz) quite a lot in the early days of DTD before he got done for gunplay at a wedding. He had a pretty good run in tourneys for a while.

I didn't know about the murder though.

Keith mentioned playing with three murderers around the time MBJ got put away so it couldn't have included Maz although that figure might now be four.

I had dinner with him a couple times out in Vegas, back in 2008. I was grinding cash at the Bellagio every day, and he would often be playing the $1k dailys.

I'd chatted with him a few times at the bar, and he took me to a curry house at the Hawaiian marketplace just down the strip.

Remember thinking he seemed like a nice fella, so was shocked to read about the gun incident, and had no idea about the murder, either.

We were bound to clash, though I thought we may spare each other a bit longer than one hand......

I play SO bad against god friends, it's not ego, but something inside our heads says "he is just messing".

Pre-flop, think you raised, & I had bad (high only) aces, & I thought "I'm not having this, doobsy coming here & running the show". Pre-flop, we both played it right I think. My default in those exact spots (high only aces), when someone calls me, is if the flop comes all low, give up, as I'm getting half at best & likely freerolled. It was low only, but I could not give up against you.....  Can't remember exactly, but I think you caught 2 pair. I felt so silly afterwards.

Better night last night though, won 70% of my 30 game session, & clawed back most this week's deficit. It's very rare for me to lose over a week, but this week may prove the exception.

I just enjoy playing it so much, I forget all my cares woes & ills when playing, & love every minute of it.  Made £40, & went to bed as happy as Larry. How daft is that?
