I think you could safely describe them both as ruthless

I started doing a bit of running about 18 months ago and do parkrun most Saturday's. I am big fan of them, they are very inclusive events and have a sense of community about them that is sometimes missing from modern society. Not sure exactly where you live but sounds like south west London, bushy park and Richmond park have parkruns.
I have done a few 10ks and they had water stations, where there are glasses of water lined up for runners to take on board during the run and afterwards. I must admit I find it hard to take on water during a run and have found doing 10ks that I didn't need it as long as I hydrated before and after the run.
Regarding supporting Gill,I would say just being there and being supportive will be enough. It sounds like she is building up the miles correctly in training and that will pay off on the day.

Wow, good spot David - & it even includes a link to a photo of Jim "Laurie" Reid & John Eames, both of whom I mention in the piece.
Not seen Jim for years, proper bloke was Jim. Not sure what he is doing with himself these days.

That opening post of Tom's along with the further parts of his TR are seared in my memory as an exemplar of such reporting. At his best Tom writes so beautifully, shame he has run out of stories. Guess that happens to us all as we slow down.

I guess this leads to the obvious question of who is most likely to be the next killer?

Agreed. He has not run out of stories, though, far from it. There are a variety of reasons why his Diary is currently a bit quite, but maybe he'll resume at some point, I hope so, few write so beautifully as Tom. Shame it's just boring stuff, like crash helmets with built in toasters & all that crap.
I used to love it when he wrote about Kizzy, too, but now it's all Poppy this, Poppy that & Poppy the other. I do so feel for Kizzy.

It's like awaiting the next episode of The Archers, eh?
The thing was, both lads were seemingly "normal", &, in different ways, likeable. Ron was a bit abrasive, yes, but away from the poker table, he was quite different.
I had a complaint after the last blog that I don't write much about today's Online Hotshots, but I don't know them well enough, & we don't get to know Online players anything like as well.

Ahh, thank you Thomas.
Weird that it was the same tourney as your maiden Diary post. I never did that deliberately. I was just asked to write some stuff from 2008, & that was the first Tourney I happened to alight on.

Father loves the Archers, never been a fan myself. I have learnt that if you are to disturb him at 7pm make sure it is very important!
I find with online players some are very well known and promote themselves with blogs/diaries etc or they are in the GIQ brigade and you know little more than an online alias.

Yup - but we just don't get the chance to meet them & interact, do we? I know, personally, all the people I write about from Live poker, but not so much the Online guys. Plenners swoons over all these great great players (& they are great, I'm sure) but I'd not recognize them if I bumped into them.
You refer to your ""Father". Is that a term of endearment, are you well posh, was it tongue in cheek? Do you not call him "Dad"? in real life?
Gotta be well posh to refer to parents as Mother & Father.

Paid my penny but found no loo paper..
I can remember Keith The Camel once saying that he had played poker with three subsequently convicted murderers, the two whom you mentioned and another one who's name escapes me.
