How many of the 10,000 players will turn up half an hour before the tournament starts and spend the rest of the day moaning about how the WSOP fails every year to sort these queues out?

Lots of things about Las Vegas make me scratch my head [hot milk in tea, the suggestion of tipping while buying a loaf of bread, the fact you can only bet on two things in football games (winner and handicap) when you can lose 50k playing keno while having your breakfast...]
The vast majority of the time, I just shrug it off with "That's Vegas for you". This is one of the exceptions.
Barmy lot. "You do realise the Rio is open 24 hours a day, folks? If you queue for more than 20 minutes, you're doing it wrong. Or you have a queuing fetish, of course."

Nothing surprises me over there, but I don't drink tea, and I normally tip the odd change when I buy stuff in the casino shops, too.
Guess they treat registering for tourneys the way I used to treat my coursework, and try doing it all at the last minute

In a surprise (to me) move, The Rio Cash Games no longer have Chip Runners - we have to go to the Cage to get, or top up, chips now. Cash is not allowed on the Table either, at least it was not on my Tables last night.
I've heard this is not by choice. Gaming Commission move, for Money Laundering reasons.

Thought I read somewhere that it's only the Rio that's stopped it, and other casinos still have them?
Or was I half asleep, and not digesting what I was reading correctly, as per

Ahh yes, that might make sense.
Do other Vegas Casinos use runners for the cash tables, if so, have they stopped, too?

I've not really been into any yet (haven't even hit the Strip since I got here bar first thing Tuesday morning when I was jetlagged) so can't answer that question. I've also seen the posts saying other casinos do have them, but I wonder whether its different here because its in convention rooms rather than a normal poker room?

Banks are the utilities that allow money laundering and virtually all financial crime. Other organisations have a minor role, but stopping people buying chips at the table will have utterly no impact at all.
I could put up a painting on Ebay tomorrow, "perhaps by Picasso", or a Rolex watch and someone could buy said item and whether it actually existed or not is immaterial. As is whether you win or lose in a casino immaterial. It is the bank that pays over the money that should be establishing where it comes from (and spotting unusually large transactions) - I can't understand how they get away with it at all.

A big blonde welcome to incoming new member Marky Crash, who is a good mate of mine from Next Door, and pretty handy at the O8.
Unforch, he's a Scot.
Think he will quite enjoy the Poker Hand Analysis board.

Ha, thanks Tikay!
Just trying to find my bearings and catch up with your adventures...
The DYM's have almost died off since you left. I think it is generally more +ev for myself to be playing OH8 MTT's rather than DYM's anyways so I will get busy with that and try and secure a little extra $$'s so I can hopefully get tore into the Big O games when I arrive.
Glad you got there safe and well and congrats on your win at the money exchange, WP
Hope you are enjoying all the Starbucks and sticky buns and good luck in the Venetian PLO8 later today mate!

Tikay, if you see this chap about...
...see what his view of the Vardy transfer is. (Photo on wsop.com)
Also, an ideal opportunity to try out that jab you've been practicing on Spencer Oliver.
