Going back to your advert musings last weeks, is this your mate Mrs/Miss Champion in the back seat?

What a good spot that is Mr C.

I just had a quick peruse of her Twitter Feed, & it seems she has landed a role in "Casualty", too. I believe that's a prime time TV Show on Saturday evenings that uncouth & uneducated folk like MANTIS & Woodsey watch.

She really is very easy on the eye.

The first time I ever met her was in mid-summer on a very hot day. She wandered into the Studios with the smallest & snuggest pair of hot pants you ever saw, plimsolls, white socks pulled up above the knees, the croppiest of crop tops ever saw (see through, too), & her hair tumbling across her shoulders & ample cleavage. It took all my will power not to look for more than the briefest of seconds.

Had my bag stolen from the beach in Nice a few years back....if you can call it a beach. Certainly in no rush to go back, though we did enjoy the rest of the holiday and nothing too important was nicked.

The language barrier down the police station was fun; my French linguistic 'skills' stretches to words like poulet, piscine and chien that I learned in school, not much use when trying to describe the bag, its contents, and then asking to borrow a phone to ring home.

I read you like adventures with your spouse and so do I. Currently on Nice adventure with Mrs Mantis which is pretty nifty and off to Cannes tomorrow. Been on a lot of these adventures and below is the formula for the very best one in my experience, expect to obtain unlimited brownie points...

Fly into Verona, the city of love, which you can do for about 10 pence
Dinner at Nastro Azzuro and opera/show at the roman arena
Don't forget to visit Romeo and juliets balcony, act lovey dovey
Train to Lake Garda and spend a couple of days cruising/mincing around the lake, act lovey dovey
First class train to Venice, arriving by train is the best and Venice is the dogs coconuts
Cruise up the grand canal on a water bus, act lovey dovey
Fly out of Venice for 16p
Revel in lovey dovey masterdom for the next 5 years

Well now, what a romantic.

We did Nice a few years ago, the memory soured only by too much sunshine causing my head to swell to twice it's normal size.

Where did you stay - on the Promenade I hope? Perfectly lovely, in every way.

If you are still there, jump the train into Monaco - might be one of the top ten railway journeys in the world, through a multitude of tunnels, & all along the very edge of the coast.

Monaco Station is a bit of a let down, wholly underground & all really rather dull, but it's just a 5 minute walk from the Monte Carlo Casino, Café de Paris & all that stuff.  I had spag bol at Café de Paris, but it had onion in so I sent it back.

You really must visit Monte Carlo if in Nice.

Not sure I want to take Gill to Venice.  I went there in my poker years, & I found it all a bit smelly, bit like the Grand Union in Harlesden & Willesden, & all those Gondola things, nowhere near as nice as the ones they have at The Venetian, in Vegas.

Here's Monaco Station - you get the drift, not at all what I'd hope to see.

PS - Don't forget to give Mrs Mantis the occasional kiss.

Nah, if you are in Nice the nut way to go to Monaco is by helicopter!!

Did it a few years back and it was less than a hundred quid too......

FFS Woodsey, you are so uncouth.

True, but it's not related to helicopter rides  Grin

The promenade at Cannes is called La Croisette and is very swish indeed, it passes right by the magnificent Carlton Hotel.

The hotel has a jewellers' shop on each wing of the entrance stairway, one is Cartier and the other Van Cleef and Arpels if you fancy doing some shopping.

There's also a coffee shop at Croisette level where you may or may not get change from £20 for a cup of coffee and a croissant.

The Carlton Hotel Cannes seems +EV for robbers  if you look at the "heists" section below:

Yah the Carlton hotel is one magnificent building, walked passed it today, the shopping is insane down that strip, bit unnerving that all the retail outlets appear to have a butler waiting to open the door. Was actually wearing my finest Gucci apparel when visiting the Gucci store. Strutted in like a peacock. Sales assistant goes oooo very nice....from our 2010 collection. Mrs Mantis wet herself. Stumbled out with my tail between my legs.

What? It has a superb beach.

You can sit there, under a parasol, supping a latte at a little coffeeteria on the beach, whilst lovingly gazing at the cruise ships sailing into the nearby Port of Nice, & the endless stream of aircraft on the inbound flight path to Nice Airport. Hard to imagine life gets better than that, especially for an uncouth Yorkshire lad like you.

Did you try walking over the stones and pebbles that line the way to the sea, in the July heat? Brutal for the feet. Then some scally nicks my bag whilst we frolicked in the sea, despite the 'beach' being rammed.

Nice has got nothing on Scarbados.

Mrs R and I take a Tupperware box and put our valuables in it, then making absolutely sure no one is looking, we bury it in the sand/pebbles before we go in to the water. It takes about 5 seconds so it's easy to do surreptitiously.

I thought you were going to say that you drew a secret treasure map.

I would have, but then it wouldn't have been a secret.
