Just in case you missed it......Wink. I think you will know all this team.

Has really given me the buzz for Vegas. I will try the sat route out 1st, but this year try a few other sites to get a package too.

Will your health repair affect Vegas plans ?

Hi Tony,

First, apologies to you (& many others) for recent radio silence & delayed replied to posts & PM's.

Been busy recuperating, & catching up on stuff. I was out of circulation for a week or two, & it's left me all over the shop. I'm back in top gear now though, & getting back up to speed.

Vegas plans?

They remain exactly as originally planned - I plan to head out to Vegas on June 2nd. I'll obviously have to sort some health/travel insurance - best quote so far £870, ugh, but it is what it is.

Gill will join me the following day, & stay there for 10 or 12 days, during which tome I'll mix poker with touristy stuff, exactly as I have done the last 4 years with Gill. Then, after she returns home around 15th June, I'll be staying on until around mid July, a mixture of playing poker & "working".

Am I excited?

Just a bit.

As some of you know, each year Gill & I try & do a little "adventure" in the USA, & this year is no exception.

The plan is to have a 2 day "away" trip again this year.

We begin by flying up to Portland, Oregon, on an early morning flight from Vegas. We usually fly SouthWest.com, but Gill is keen to use Alaska Airlines this year for the very good reason that their aircraft have.....a picture of an Eskimo on the tail.

Don't even ask.

We then spend the morning in Portland, just having a shufti & seeing what's what.

Portland sits in the shadow of the snow-capped Mount Hood, & also has scores of interesting bridges, including 4 across the Columbia, & no less than 12 across the Willamette. It's Bridge Heaven.

It's the Amtrak Coast Starlight, which runs from Seattle to Los Angeles.

We plan to ride it from Portland down to San Francisco, & take advantage of the famous Pacific Parlour Car.

And how do we gain access to the Pacific Parlour Car?

Easy. It's restricted to those who book a SLEEPER COMPARTMENT.

Jealous yet? Thought so.

So the next morning we arrive in San Francisco, where we plan to book a whale-sighting trip, & then fly back to Vegas that evening.

The whole 2 day trip, for 2 of us, comes in at less than $600.

How good is that?

Less than Flushy does in his first half hour at the Rhino. Bargain!
