In Manchester recently, I saw a man walking along with a ferret on a lead.

Seen in Leeds today, this man had a lizardy thing. It's name is Midas, and the owner breeds from it, says it has 39 baby lizardy things.

And it reminded me of that thing where old blokes look like their dog, or vice-versa. The bloke deffo looks a bit lizardy. The clue is his tongue. The bloke is camaflouged too, his tattoos match his shorts.

saw that and thought booder and Geo had had a secret love child Smiley

Wow, terrific spot, Vinni.

Incred. Will go take a look tomorrow, can't say I've noticed it.

A+ for punnage, too.

You talking about the bloke or the lizard?

This is why I could never write a book - the use of original & interesting adjectives is key, & I'm shite at them.

This was prompted by something I saw on Twitter yesterday, think it was Tweeted by Stephen Fry, & then re-tweeted by several, including the excellent SIM UK.

So here's the question.

How many adjectives can you think of to describe the act of hitting a cricket ball?

If I tried very hard, I suppose I might come up with 4 or 5. Maybe 10 or 15 if I really concentrated.

Hit

Whacked

Stroked

Nurdled

Smashed

The wordsmiths amongst you might manage 20, 25, even 30 maybe?

Go on, try it.

The reveal is in the next post, so no cheating.

I am no wordsmith but should "glove" be on the list ?

The ball hits the glove rather than the glove hits the ball ?

Am I being thick/pedantic ? You can't answer that one Tony.

Lippy Lady = Queen Mary seems more than likely.

I’m no wordsmith, esp with regard to cricket, but wouldn’t “smote” be okay?
