This made Chili lol hard.

She thought the sofa was hilarious, but I don't see what's wrong with it, it's lovely. Or was - Wendy made me throw it away & replace it with some dreadful Ikea mush.

Date? I dunno. Maybe 1983-ish, give or take a few years.

THANK YOU!! I have racking my brains trying to work out who it was - either Michael Crawford or that man who was on Yes prime Minister but not the prime minister or Jim Hacker, who was also the assistant to Basil Brush - lately on Heartbeat I think?

I was trying to get it together with a young lady from Wales at the time, & I was keen to impress.

Derek Fowlds is the fella you mean, played the police sgt in Heartbeat  I think, was brilliant in Yes Minister.

A poker tale from last night at Luton, which Ding briefly alluded to earlier.

It's the Final, we have just started.

A guy from Latvia - thoroughly decent & pleasing guy - keeps limping. He has trouble with English, so struggles a bit when Tracey asks him "what language do you speak in Latvia then?".

Anyway, he limps most every hand. Someone Pops him every hand, he Passes every time.

I'm a bit short of chips, so when he limps again, I give it the old heave-ho, in they go. And he calls, ffs.

He only has A-7, so my 5-3 is live, but I miss, & I'm down to 2,600, with Blinds 1k-2k.

Next hand, his stack pleasingly doubled up now with the addition of most of mine, he limps again.

Shortie, to my right, pushes for 4k. Well, he MUST get called in 3 spots minumum, surely? (SB, BB, & Mr Latvia).

So, I Call all-in Blind. Quintuple up time if I get lucky.

Now, Tracey has read all this beautifully, & shoves for, like, 40k or so. No worries, she's trying to isolate Shortie & me. That's OK.

Sadly, Mr Latvia is still trying to work out the answer to Tracey's "what language do you speak" question, & is not concentrating. He says, clearly, "Call", thinking he's just calling Shorties 4k, not realising Tracey has shoved, & covers him.

"Ahh, I Pass then" says Mr Latvia.

"Whoa, hold up" half the Table shout. "You said Call, it goes".

At which point, bizarrely, Mr Shortie interjects "no, he does not have to Call" he pleads. Well he would say that! He's gently reminded that he has a vested interest, & cannot plead for Mr Latvia to be able to Pass at no cost.

The Ruling is given, "Mr Latvia's verbal call is binding, he has to Call".

"No problem" says Mr Latvia, not at all bothered, he just shrugged his shoulders & smiled, & accepted it, & stuck all his chips in.

So, we have a 4 way all-in! And Tracey's cunning plan to Raise to get rid of Mr Latvia has gone tits up.

On their backs. Not a Pair between us, all sorts of oddments. Latvia has Q-J, Shortie K-8, me 9-5, & Tracey, A-9. Nice try Tracey.

The Board is dealt - & not one of us hit! 4 players, no Pairs, & we all miss everything!

And Tracey gets all the cake.
