2 that nearly make my list
-the barry george trial. truly astonishing to watch as it was clear to everyone from the outset that it was a fitup yet it was just as clear that he was going down regardless of the evidence
-david kelly's 'suicide'

No mention of the Brighton bombing?
Doesn't matter what you though of Thatcher - Britain woke up one morning having narrowly avoiding having the entire Cabinet wiped out. If Thatcher had been having a bath instead of working on a speech she would have been killed.

it's in my late addendum, the IRA/Northern Ireland though I think you could probably split that into 2 -northern ireland -mainland attacks including brighton, manchester, downing street car bomb, downing street mortar attack and the soho bombings

Good shout Andrew. Another one I forgot. Would be interesting to see how everyone's list varied. Gatso's was fascinating - I expected it to be a bit cranky, but it was nothing like any other list.

The problem with the Madeline McCann thing was that I (like a lot of people i think) grew really tired of that story, which is shame because it was an awful thing to happen to the poor girl and her family. It wasn't even newsworthy after the first few weeks.
