Anyone remember carbon paper?
Amazing how things have changed. The advent of e-Mail rendered e-Mail obsolete overnight, now we have perma-electronic copies of everything, & even hard-copy letters can be photopcopied, scanned or stored online.
Amazingly, large parts of the world still use it. "Fresh" carbon paper was a treat, & you'd get carbon paper that was falling to pieces, & barely useable. I bet the Civil Service still use it.
I used to go to West Africa annually, I had Italian friends out there in The Gambia who ran all the Casinos on the West Coast, & they would pay fortunes for me to bring out a few packets of carbon paper. They in turn curried favour with Government Ministers by doling out some to the dfifferent Departments. I was there the year they had the Civil War, never been so scared in my life, as we were on the "wrong side".

Believe it or not I have a bank deposit book from Natwest which I only stopped using less than a year ago and it has one sheet of carbon paper which is for the whole book(around 100 pages).

Maria was supposed to sort me out a nice new Lappie months ago.
I reminded her on Wednesday. She waffled.
My Lappie died on Thursday - Christmas Eve. RIP Lappie, & gg 6 years worth of photos.
So I had to go Shopping. At Fosse Park. On Christmas Eve.
I went to Hell - PC World - was patronised by a Salesperson who, when I asked about the spec, read it parrot-fashion from the promo gumf on the Stand. "It has 53 gigagogs of bam & an Intel processor Inside". As opposed to outside.
I paid them to install everything, & set it up - a bargain at £150.
Opened PC - bingo, it worked perfectly. (Except it's a poncy new keyboard with the buttons in different places).
So, to work. I opened the first e-Mail. It said....
"
Tony,....... by way of thank you.....have bought you a new Lappie for Xmas".
What was the method of demise tony...... there are many ways of recovering data...if u want me to have a look let me know..

When I fired her up, the "Windows" page came up, with the green bar thingy, & then switrched straight off again. It then fired-up again, on it's own, rinse repeat.
It's only 8 years old, do you think it would still be in Warranty?

I reckon Tikay could charge a fortune to let someone have a look at his laptop.
I'd give a few bob to charity for half an hour with it...

Err, just a bit, there was all sorts of stuff on it.
It would not interest many though, mostly debates about quantatitive easing & stuff like that.

Hey Tikay just heard u cashed in the £150 welldone mate! Watched you on TV earlier commentating on my Q10hh hand vs KK :-). Is carbon paper the stuff I used at primary school where you would draw by scraping off the top layer of the black paper to reveal a shiny metallic layer underneath? If not that stuff was cool anyway. Cos also forgot to send you a hello from me when you met up in Luton :-D. I think he was quite fond of Lisa-Marie ;-) set him up on a date by any chance?

As toasty as that might be, (she's mev), Tikay introduced me to her as the future mrs Kendall.
