Nice blazer. I've just ordered you one of these. Hopefully it'll arrive in time for Mother's Day.

Cottonbud, aka lJAMESl, aka James Wiliams, CEO of the Swindon Massive.

On Saturday, he will appear Live on "The Grind", hoping to exceed the ROI which GreekBoy luckboxed a few weeks back. Hopefuly, he'll dress properly for Saturday.

Arguably, he looked better on Saturday. I quite like that shirt, actually. kitty Lea took a right shine to him, it must be noted.

My favourite quote by Michael Foot, when speaking about a political rival. "He rose without trace"

My favourite quote about Michael Foot, when he lost the election by a landslide. "Michael Phut"

Different gravy was Michael Foot. Met him as a young boy when my dad was a local councillor. He was incredibly eccentric and rude, yet somehow polite and endearing. That doesn't make sense, but neither did he...

Had a bit of private time with Spencer Oliver this evening before & after the Show.

He was a European Boxing Champ back in the 1990's, & though some titles were two-a-penny due to the various ruling bodies, the guy has pedigree & then some. His brother, uncle, father & grandfather were or are all boxers, & are all still in the game in one way & another.

At one time, Spencer had 3 fights - ABA fights too, not outlawed stuff - in a single day, & his Dad beat that, with FOUR fights (Licensed) in one day!

It all went tiddley poo in May 1998, when during a fight, Spencer suffered an identical injury to that which Michael Watson suffered a decade or so earlier. Unlike Michael, who survived but has never recovered, Spencer came through, after several days in a coma, & a few weeks in intensive care. It was a blood clot on the brain, & to remove it, they sliced open his head almost from ear to ear, & he has on his bonce the most hideous scar you ever saw.

That was that for boxing, but he's still involved, and runs Finchley Gym, where all sorts of boxers are trained. He does "1 to 1 personal training" (non-boxing, just physical conditioning for posh peeps), & charges £50 per hour, & reckons to get 7 or 8 Clients per day. Boxing coaching too, & away from that, he commentates for Radio 5, & has a plum contract with Sky Sports (never a bad thing) to do Friday Night boxing.

Incredibly, he's about 4" or 5" shorter than me, but is as hard as nails, built very solid.

I love meeting these guys.

Anyways, it looks like I'm headed to Finchley Gym to see his crew, & do some poker stuff. He also said "I'll get you in shape tikay". He might be good, but not that good.

Yes, amazing recovery he made.  Great work by the medical team and shows he had some fight in him as well.

Glad he's doing well now.  Didn't realise it was 12 years ago!

Congrats on page 1200

Thanks Jim. So busy - though happily busy - right now, that I struggle with the self-discipline to spend 15 or 20 minutes on it every day, which is all it takes. Must try harder. My weeks fly by, something different every day, life is a joy (in the main), but this business of only 24 hours in a day is a right bugger.

It's not helped by my increased sleeping hours since the diet started - I got to bed at about 1am today, & never woke up until Noon. And the extra sleep makes me feel so good, so full of energy, that I then go & work 15 hours straight, & so it goes on.

How dreadful it must be to have nothing to do, to be bored, to get up to mischief because you have time on your hands.

3 years in, with 137,000 miles on the clock, I had to "back" old faithful to the Lease Company.

All dreadfully stressful it was, too. They need forms, finance forms, MOT certificates, & this & that, & driving licence copies, ugh, it was horrible.

Regards sorted it all, good as gold, but it's not something I'd want to do too often. I have had (about) 30 cars, all bar 4 or 5 were company-cars, so the Company sorts everything. This one was my first non-Company car for about 40 years. When I retired, JNK gave me my existing Merc, & I ran it into the ground, till it had 200k+ on the clock, before getting rid & getting this one.

The Lease Company just said "OK, we'll come collect it".  But when the man came, he said "I'll be half an hour, I need to take some notes". I returned 30 minutes later, & he presented me with a list of "faults" stone-chips, chip in windscreen (which is 1 month old, sigh), da de da. No doubt they will now send me a whopping bill to rectify the "faults", but I'm assured the car was in "expected" condition - "fair wear & tear" is the legalese I think - for 137,000 miles. What's the betting I get a bill for £4k+?

The car has been golden. Not a single fault or breakdown, not one, except that bloody wiper problem last month which cost me over a grand to sort, that whole service coming to £1,800! The prervious services - about 2 per year - never exceeded £200, though the front tyres never lasted beyond 30,000 miles, so that totted up to a few bob over the life of the car. I think I had 4 sets of fronts, & two sets of rears in all.

The car averaged 44.3 mpg over the entire time I had it - quite extraordinary, imo.

I got it via Regards at Sytner, & of course you pay OTT. But John has held my hand throughout, & I think the extra has been worth it for peace of mind alone. I get a problem, I ring him, sorted. Nice one John. By the bye, Beemer John's initials are JAG.....

A good car, all in all, quite sorry to see it go, but it had to be done.

Hi James.

It's a LOVELY jumper. Well, you can tell Nan it is.

James alludes to "The Grind", and tomorrow night he & his band of Swindon scallywags will be live in the Studio, all hell-bent on beating Greek-Boys ROI.....

Off with you now James - Coxy is on 6 Tables, with about £3k in front of him. Go get it.
