agree about Portillo - he's my favourite Tory (after
tighty
tank of course) - I love the chemistry between him and Diane Abbott on This Week. I had to hold myself back from gushing a little when I bumped into him outside my office a couple of years ago.

and I even like Diane Abbott with Andrew Neil and Portillo.
Andrew Neil (who I cared for not a jot when a newspaper editor) was the best interviewer by a country mile in the last six weeks
Price up an Interviewers Heads-Up between Paxy & Andrew Neil, Tighty. Both are quite superb, we've come a long way since Dimbleby. Richard Dimbleby, I mean.

Paxman for the soundbite, Neil for the detailed policy. He knows his stuff. Quite what the BCC was doing getting him to interview celebs at the London Eye all election night I am not sure.
Both are great, but different styles

Wasn't trying to stir up trouble.
There's lots of good guys in real life banned from blonde. I don't blame the mods anymore, people get themselves banned as far as I can see.
Lot's of former members in the category of good poster 99% of the time. If they come back one day then cool. If that can't because of whatever reason then that too is usually their own doing and not the mods fault.

Not at all Tanky, it's a good, constructive, debate, & good may come out of it.

All was forgiven when they wheeled out Lord Ashcroft from nowhere at Xam in the morning to be interviewed by Andrew Neil. Woke me up that did.

I've said it to Tighty a few times - if I was to ever get banned from blonde I'd never hold it against the mods and heck I've probably come closer than I know. I think anyone that does shouldn't really be allowed back.

True, gatters, but it's all relative.
the reason that luton gets to me is that despite being one of the flagship sites for a company that gets poker and pumps a lot of money into it it's gone from being one of the best venues in the country to being terribad. same is true of walsall, the strange goings on at both amuse me much more because I don't get how it happened

The low point of the Beeb's othewise excellent coverage, imo, it was cringeworthy, & such a waste of talent.

People make mistakes/comments in the heat of the moment. Banning people for life would be a mistake. Banning them for 1 month would be better. 3 bans and then life ban them would be better.

I enjoy Andrew Neil for the reasons Tighty mentioned but I think he wastes a lot of interviews with middleweight politicians by badgering them with questions he knows they can't answer. (ie, where exactly are all these cuts going to come from?)
It might be entertaining to see a junior minister squirm for a bit but I'm no better informed after you're finished.
He doesn't really get to talk to the heavyweights (except during the daily politics debates specials that they did) they all go to Andrew Marr as he's far less bullish. Asks the same sorts of tough questions most of the time, but not in a shouty way. If he has to interrupt he does so without scoff.
Ideal political interview for my money would be either Andrew Marr in a bad mood or Andrew Neil in a good mood.
