Tikay I know you feel healthier and better than ever etc etc which is great, and I'm really happy to hear that, but 1200 calories really doesn't sound good.
Surely you need more nutrients etc in your system?

Thanks cos.
I don't "feel" better, I AM better!
Consider this.....
I have NEVER eaten "healthy" or nutrient-rich food such as green veg, salad, or fruit.
Now choose betwen these two, which is likely to be the better diet......
A). I WAS scoffing down 3,000 to 4,000 cals per day of junk food. Pork pies, sausage rolls, crisps, pot noodles, chips, fry-ups, sugar with drinks, etc.
B) I am now eating 1,200 cals per day of almost exclusively white meat, salad, & fresh fruit.
Only for 3 more days & 7 hours though.

Just watched 100 greatest World Cup moments.
Bobby and Jack Charlton were interviewed about the 1966 semi-final against Portugal.
They said they got a ticket for their dad to watch the game, but he refused to take the day off work, as he had never missed a day in his life.
Their dad was a miner and said there is no way im going to ask someone to go down the pit instead of me so i can go to a football match

Does it have to be one or the other?
What's wrong with a balanced 2k calories per day with plenty of goodness?

Because that would appear to me to come under the category of
sensible.

Desert Island Discs (DID) yesterday was a purler, with ex-footballer Tony Adams (MBE, no less) being expertly teased & probed by Kirsty, & responding quite beautifully.
We all know the Tony Adams story, but DID revealed a whole new side (to me, anyway) to Mr Adams.
He's uneducated, as he missed school mostly bunking off to play football, & so lacked education, but he has some remarkably well-honed life skills now.
Totally regretful for his bad years, even I, usually wholly intolerant to drunks & alchol addiction, warmed to him, to what caused it, the bill he & his parents paid for it, & how he overcame it. He has not touched alcohol for a good many years now. He genuinely welled up when talking about how he felt he'd let down his parents, both of whom are now pased on, & so missed his recovery.
Oddly - because he does not need money - not at all - he is currently a Premiership Manager - of Gabala FC, who are in the high-profile Azerbaijan Premier League. He & his wife just decided to go for it, moving out there lock stock & barrel, I gather.
The less said about his choice of music, the better, it was horrendous & tacky, so bad that I fully expected it to include Oasis & Rolf Harris.
He received £500k for his Arsenal Benefit match, & £250k as an advance royalty on his book, "Addicted", both of which he donated to his charitable rehab clinic for sportsmen, (mainly footballers), "Sporting Chance". He was generous in his praise for the support, financial & practical, that the PFA give to all footballers, & to his Clinic.
Apart from what came across as his great humility & warm spirit, the most eye-raising part was how he refered to his time in Prison. He suffers from huge personal inecurity, & is quite insular, such that he enjoys isolation. He said he loved being alone in prison, they fed him well, he was protected from lurkers & the taunts of imbecilic football fans, & he had lots of time to read books. (He only served 2 months, to be fair). I identified & empathised incredibly with this. There are times - not always, I admit - but quite a lot, when I yearn for solitude, to read my books, & not have to handle some of the stuff that comes across my radar. Even though I love life, & my work next door, I often & increasingly dream of the day when they can me, & I can become a little hermit, in my own world. So if I end up in Prison, I'll be just fine.
You can catch the Tony Adams DID on i-player. Do please try - you will not, I hope, regret it, it was remarkably good.

It is difficult to fathom how a man of your, general, good taste can have such a blindspot with regard to music.
The refined musical stylings of Mr. Harris and the subtlety of the lyrics, melodies and performances of the Gallagher brothers have clearly escaped you.
I'm sure that you will soon come to your senses with regards to this matter.

Haven't watched this yet, but recorded it last night:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00syt1w/How_to_Build..._A_Nuclear_Submarine/
Part one of three in what looks like an interesting mini-series. For some reason, not in HD though...
Next week's is 'How to build a Jumbo Jet Engine'.

Wonderful entries yet again TK. Thanks very much.
I only wish that I had been driving up the M1 yesterday at 3pm rather than watching the footie.

Just wondered if you were planning on playing at DTD this coming weekend?

Thank you, & yes, I've never been more weller.
Damn damn damn, I'd SO love to be at DTD this weekend. Sadly, I am working.
In
VEGAS.
Toasty, if you can get it. But I'm quite sure DTD (D2D?) will be quite splendid.

That's very kind of you Mr Dickie. I'm utterly determined to try & revive/keep the Diary going. Feedback is thin right now, not surprisingly given the come & go fickleness I must seem to exhibit, but the real pleasure is writing, I love writing stuff. My next trick is to try to make it interesting.
In fact, I WAS driving down the M1 yesterday whilst the Football was on. As I said a day or two ago, Internatiional Football does not float my boat, though I can't wait for the Premiership to re-start. I plan to organise things such that I can watch more of it this Season. I am now committed to 4 nights a week playing Poker Online, & it kind of dovetails nicely with watching footy. I might even have the odd flutter.
Ther Radio 5 commentary on the England match was hilarious, though I fancy poor Alan Green was close to a seizure, poor chap.
The Twitter feedback on the Match, however, was not nice, not nice at all. Peeps get SO angry. Rooney was lionised & idolised by them, now he's a useless tosser. Apparently. Whatever one thinks of Rooney & Co's prformance, it was not for want of trying. Sometimes things just don't happen as we/they would wish.
Good Racehorse Trainers long ago recognized that you must not visit the well too often with Group One animals, 3 or 4 races in a Season is plenty for the very best. And yet top-class Premierrship footballers go on a commercially-motivated tours to the Far East or somesuch in July, start the football season proper In August, play non-stop until May, then toddle off wearily to South Africa for the World Cup. And the fans can work out why we were sub-standard.
