To all those on the edge of their seats:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pugachev%27s_Cobra
However, it wasn't merely impressive that he knew the answer was Aerobatic Manoeuvres (the others were revealed as Split-S, Barrel Roll, and something else), but how he knew it: he spends his lunchtime clicking "Random Link" on Wikipedia and that article had come up 2 days before recording!

why does it imply something fast?
a) coz it sounds like express
b) coz it sounds like something with caffeine in it which makes me hyper

Robbie Savage is a revelation, is he not, as a pundit/host?
Out of this world.
Different, original, industrious, argumentative, but ready to mock himself. A big future awaits him in broadcasting when he eventually gives up playing. Quite an interesting character, too, in so many ways, most at odds with his on-pitch personna.
Never before have I tried to listen to a R5 football prog, but I do try to catch that.
If I get it right, he finishes his Saturday match, showers, then goes straight into a booth & does the Show. A hard working footballer, who'd have thought? I'd be surprised if the gig pays much, either. Maybe £1k, or thereabouts
correct, he finishes match and is driven to the nearest BBC regional studio where at 6.06pm he's ready to go
Not quite Danny Baker, for me, but a real talent and quite unexpectedly so
He used to live on the same road as my brother in Kirby Muxloe when he played for Leicester. He played golf with him a few times and rated him as a genuine, down-to-earth fella. Robbie Savage, not my brother. Though he is too.

I agree (peacefully) with Rex and AndrewT about Only Connect being the best thing on the telly box.
The dry sense of humour of Ms. Coren is made all the better by the awkward silences that follow her gags. There is not the money for a studio audience so no reaction from off camera, and the mostly autistic contestants are too 'in the zone' to offer even polite laughter. Our host carries on beautifully and somehow it all works out to be wonderful TV.
A big budget would ruin the show, celebrity guests and applause signs *yuck*. Hope it stays, more or less, exactly as it is.

Or if it's success does warrant a bigger budget, just give Coren a bigger pay packet. She should get at least half wot Rooney nets.
Don't need to up the prizes at all, geeks will quite happily compete for buttons.

Small world.
I am engaged on a 2 + 2 Thread, for business purposes, & who should reply on thread, asking me a direct question, but byronkincaid.
I'm not entirely sure if his question was genuine, a tease, or simply adding grist to my PR mill, but it was appreciated, & I replied in kind.
Tin helmet now firmly donned over there, but so far, I've escaped relatively lightly from the warriors.
And now, moving on from 2 + 2, I've been tasked, for next door, with getting cooey-wooey with "Pocket Fives". In truth, I don't actually even know what "Pocket Fives" is, but my spies inform me that Flushy has his foot well & truly in their door, so I'll be asking Flushy for help, shortly. Weird how this little poker world works.

Wandering down the Feltham office corridor just now, I heard my name called, & turned to see Ginny Wade in "make-up" (facial, not staking) wanting to speak to me. She remembered me, & I was, well,
made up
, for that. She is evidently here to do some Ladies Tennis "end of season" Tournament for Eurosport, with whom we share studios.
Then she gave me a stern rebuke, & I think she mean't it.
I'd seen her some months ago, &, star-struck, asked if I could have a photo with her. She agreed, but then Greg Rudeszki walked in, so we had a threesome photo. (Or it may have been Roddick, I get confused with those two).
So Ginny's line this morning was that I had sought a 'photo with her, but then allowed Greg/John to muscle in, & she seemed sort of hurt about that. She really did seem miffed.
All this will make no sense to anyone under the age of 40 or 50, but to my generation, Ginny is nothing short of a legend, & had a career unblemished by anything improper.
So, we ended up discussing yesterday's thread on blonde about Tursunov (?) & allegedly rigged Tennis matches. She went on to mention that there were rumours about Federer & some top Tennis official, & that it was all, in her opinion, stuff & nonsense.
So, name-drop over. But it's rather peculiar how we - or I, anyway - find it rather uplifting when we bump into "Celebs", past or present. But I do.
On which note, driving into the office this morning, there were mounted police everywhere stopping traffic, etc. It was on the A30, along the southern perimeter of Heathrow. In due course, more motorcycle outriders signalled the oncoming convoy, in the midst of which was the "Royal" Rolls Royce, sovereign flag & all. A female was in the back seat, but no idea if it was her Queen-Ness or not, as we had terminal velocity of 70 or 80mph, & I have dodgy eyes. She - if it were Her - could have been coming from Heathrow, or Windsor. The notion of drawing attention to a Royal convoy via all those outriders - there were 20 or more - is odd, though, & surely is a magnet to miscreants. Anyway, I bowed my head respectfully, as you do.
So, Ginny Wade (who should be a Dame or a Lord) AND the ultimate Celeb, Her Queen-Ness, in one morning. My cup runneth over.

Ginny seems very well bred, from good stock I would assume. She's a lot older than she used to be, I suspect. Has aged well. I fancy that, over a long evening, she has the ability to be quite prickly, or testy, fiesty even.
Excellent, challenging, conversationalist, the type that leaves me feeling very inadequate.

Tonight's job, alongside playing Online next door, is to call in to this.
For the pedants on the grammar thread in the Lounge, note the two new words the pesky Americans have invented - "cohosts" & "coordinating".

Wednesday, October. 27 at 1 p.m. ET:
