Did you see my question the other day about the sky deal?
Also, did you ever get your money back from devilfish from when he played on your stars account?
Yes, I've not forgotten either, & I will reply to both. I get further & further behind, I'm so disorganized.
It's been more than a little intense this week, & I had an absolute horror of a day today, some bad personal stuff went down, so my good intentions to spend an hour on the Diary every day went to pot. In the end, I could not face Luton-G tonight, so I'm trying to have a catch-up now. I might get to your questions (one of which was excelllent) this evening, failing that, tomorrow. I hope.

it got added to a very short list of books in my entire life that I have started & not finished.
You must be really good at choosing books Tony. I would estimate that I dismiss about one in four after the first chapter.
You are doing it all wrong, Tom!
The first few Chapters are rarely a good guide, so I start in the middle, read about a quarter, then revert to the beginning. Plesse don't ask, I know it makes no sense.
I DO choose books with enormous care, though. If I go into Foyles, or Waterstones, I'm in there for 3 or 4 hours minimum. I select 15 or 20, then slowly cull then down to 5 or 6.
I read more & better books in 2010 than for a very long time, book after book turned out to be whizzo.
I am often given books as gifts, & I'm sorry & embarrassed to say I do struggle to read them. It's a bit like buying a young lady some new clothes. They say "ooh, thank you", but it just don't work.
There was a quite remarkable exception last Saturday, though, more of which shortly. I'm talking book gifts, not ladies clothes, obv.
Most memorable books recently were "Massive", & "Collider" (both about particle physics, the search for the so-called "God particle" & related indecipherable gibberish, but incred reads), "King of the Gypsies", which I briefly showed you in Luton, & will be yours very soon, & the latest, which has kept me awake for several nights, "Not Much of an Engineer".
The last-named is about a man who I had never heard of, Sir Stanley Hooker.
His Wike page is here.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Hooker
Note this.....
"I'll have to think about this a bit, but if I was asked who was Britain's greatest ever engineer, I'd have to decide between Brunel and Sir Stanley Hooker, but I'd probably go for Sir Stanley."
His influence on aircraft propulsion spans an enormous era, too, from WW11 Merlin engines, right up to the Olympus, which powered Concorde. His theories still hold good today, too.
I cannot believe I had never heard of him, especially as I have had a 40 year fascination with Rolls-Royce Aero Engines, own a bunch of R-R Shares, (including over 600,000 Class B Ordinaries, gross value about one bloody quid), & did tons of Civil Engineering work at various Rolls-Royce Plants in Derby, Hucknall, & Bristol.
My ignorance never ceases to amaze, why did I waste my life so? Still, catching up is a right bunch of fun.

At the Newcastle SPT, we had a few Guests, including Carlo Citrone, & Camel. (excluding Mondy, who won his seat, & so was not a "guest" as such, who was just terrific, but that's a seperate Post).
As per usual, I always write to our Guests after the event & thank them.
I've not written or spoken to Carlo yet, but after Camel sent me an unrelated (& VERY predictable/funny!) PM tonight, I was reminded, & so I wrote & thanked him, & said how pleased we were, & that I hoped he'd enjoyed himself.
I hope Camel does not mind if I reproduce his reply......
I had a great time.
Haven't laughed so much while playing poker in years.
Which was absolutely THE perfect answer. Poker peeps
enjoying
poker, laughing & smiling, is as good as it gets.
That ticks every single box, & I'm made up beyond words.
Newcastle SPT may have been our best ever SPT, everything went tickity-boo from start to finish, & we had a "good" final Table, with the vastly experienced Team Sky Poker player Wayne Rideout, aka Gliterbabe, eventually prevailing over a 22 year old young lady called "JamieLou", who really showed some remarkable flair for a "regular" player. She's got game, & some. In fact, three young Ladies Finalled, & a local 19 year old redhead looked home & hosed until her Aces got mullered by A-K, ouch. But she never stopped smiling, & her smile lit up the place.
Excellent.

Mondy was an absolute
star
at the Newcy SPT.
It's the first time I've really been able to spend proper time with him. No wonder he's so popular.
I introduced him to the Big Marketing Suit, Rich Milner (only 13 years old, but incredibly rounded with great people skills), & the two of them sit & chatted for hours on end.
Mondy was explaining his computer set up, & how he xty Tables with the aid of joysticks & one click clicks, or whatever. Amazing. He has so much humility, too.
I did an interview with him, I believe it will air on 865 this coming Saturday, though I'm not 100% sure.
I'm a big fan, & he'll be an SPT Guest of mine in the future, & that's a fact.
He's already Registered for the Sky Poker £220 Monthly Biggie, too, I believe. He is not planning on moving Rooms, & I would not ask or suggest as such, but he said he wants to do his bit for blonde.
What is there not to like about him?
I just hope he was not wearing a 2005 Jacob wristwatch. That'd be so uncool, & the kids would slay him. Apparently.

Tighty, as ever, was incred at the SPT.
He's become "family" over there now, & he's hugely popular with the regulars.
For those who don't know him, he's an acquired taste, a sort of "slow-burner", but he's some remarkable bloke.
Last weekend Newcastle SPT, this weekend he's off to Spain for an APAT National, & taking 40 Brits with him! In 2 weeks time, he plans to Update Days 1 & 2 of the Manchester GUKPT for blonde (if permissions granted), at his own time & cost, then whizz off to Bolton for an APAT jobbie. The man's a machine. In between all that, he keeps blonde ticking over, somehow, & has to deal with arsey PM's from cocks, whch he does with infinite patience, tact, & good manners way beyond the call of duty, & he sends me reams of e-Mails as to Sky Poker stuff which we do together.
I get invited to various Poker Award Ceremonies these days, & was asked to be on the Poker Europa Panel by Nic Szeremeta for the European Poker Awards. The Awards go to the great & good, the "star" names, same old same old, but what's the chance of the Tighty's of this world being nominated for these gongs? Well I'll tell you - no chance. It's just wrong.

epic
Word of the moment, it seems. Used to refer to a film - Ben Hur was an
epic
.
Fashion dictates that these buzz words come go ever faster.
Be interested to see Tom use it, & in what context. But he's so old-school.
epic
Must try & fit it in somehow.
Think I'll make my
epic
debut on Saturday's Show. It'll be
epic
.
I just need to remember to hide my 2005 Jacob wristwatch, or I'll get proper slayed. A 2005 watch, what's that about, ffs?

13st 9lbs, (191.6 lbs). Suggests a 4lb loss on Day One, but obv wrong, & scale variance will even out over coming days & weeks.
Notwithstanding that, started well, & feel good today, after, at last, a great night's unbroken sleep.
Rennie count - Zero
Nurafen count - Zero.
probably an obvious question, but are you weighing yourself at the same time every day? I believe the best time is just after you wake up.
I'm trying to lose weight too. I've been on it for a week now. I feel better, lighter & fitter and I've lost..... ZERO bloody pounds!
I was hoping to get down to 11st from 12st by the end of Jan, I think I may need to lose a limb for that to happen!
Still the sales of lager, curries, chinese, sweets, crisps & sandwiches have gone down in the Teddington area
Yes Steve, first thing every morning, shower, shave, & other sh things, then the weigh-in. It's hard to find scales that are truly consistent though. Does not matter a jot in the long-term though.
You have lost zilch in a week? Wimp! You are not trying.
Epic
failure.
12st? Eh? You are only 3'-9" tall, man!
What you doing these days? Still the Horse Racing? You still see the geezer that does the Grand National TV coverage - Dave Gertfrund, or whatever? No word from DC, I assume?
We gotta go have that round of golf soon, but I gotta ease into it with Ralphy boy first. I've not held a golf club for 2 years or more. 6 years ago I was a Club Captain. Bizarre.
