How much money would 'Neil Channing's Little Black Book of Stars' be worth.

I decided that I'd make my 10,000th post a repost of the best of my previous 9999.

Some days, things are sent just to test our patience, & mettle.
Today is that day.
Hey-ho.
Late night at Luton, left at 04.30, my first proper poker game for some time, very relaxing, too, but all behind today, of course.
SO many things I want to Diary. Might have an all-nighter, my head is spinning.
Tonight's Live Show starts at 9pm, & we run through until 1am, & then the clocks go forward, so effectively 2am. No Guest tonight, so Rich Orford & myself will be Billy No Mates. At least I'll get to speak.......
Tomorrow's Guest will be Carlo Citrone.
Guests are coming thick & fast now, in all shapes & sizes.

Need to cool off before I Diary in detail yesterday's extraordinary media storm I became embroiled in. Social media storm, that is. It stole my entire day.
I really don't know how this Facebook thing works. A "Protest" Page was started, and it was a delicate matter, where I sort of knew - & understood from an insider's position - both sides, but it needed handling discretely.
Somehow, without my knowledge or approval, I was added to the Group, by a friend.
How can that be right?
Someone starts a FB protest page, say, "blondepoker is shite", or "I admire Charlie Sheen", "I support the idiots smashing up London during protest marches", "Rooney is a twat" or whatever, & I become a member of that "Group", without my approval or prior knowledge?
That's just wrong.
I hate all these Online rent-a-mobs, attracting as they do all the reprobates & extremists, & I refuse to be part of them. I have feelings as strong as anyone on this & that, but I'll tread my own path tyvm, let the sheep do their own stunted thinking. If they were but able.
Can't complain, I suppose, for business reasons I choose to use Facebook, so I guess I have to like it or lump it. Guess I have some decisions to make, as ultimately, we are all responsible for our own lives. Those of us that enjoy the luxury of independent thought, anyway.
When people get in a group, they behave so different.
Now, Kylie Minogue.......

Kylie Minogue was at the Cardiff International Arena this week, & the Show earned terrific reviews from across the media. Eveyone loves Kylie, more so since her remaerkable recovery from serious illness.
A line in one of the reviews said.......
"......perhaps concerned that all this ould not appeal to her
core gay audience
........"
Mock me gently, sorry I've been on another planet all these years, but why does Kylie have a gay following?

Not sure if I'm wording this properly, but they're good at spotting long term 'icons'. Liz Taylor and ABBA just two examples.

What was the name of the group you joined?
I did not join it, Keith. I was joined into it by someone else.
It was called "Bring back LML".
Bit awkward, as she has not left, & I know both sides of the thing. By being part of "Bring her Back" suggests I think/know she has left. Which is not true.
This case aside, because some discretion is necessary, how can I be opted into something which I may or may not approve of without my knowledge or approval?
Meanwhile, the Page has become like one of those renegade Forums, where all the banned members spout off about everything. The Page ended up as "We hate Sky Poker & it's staff", (fine with that, goes with the territory), with several Staff members being personally maligned. Staff Members who know nothing of the issue, & are not even involved in it remotely.
A guy called Bernard Casey, a 60 something, kindly, avuncular Yorkshireman, typically thinks with his head not his heart, is described variously as a nasty piece of work, & even a "twat". I don't want to be associated with that sort of cowardly & puerile attack. You could not wish to meet a more honest, straight, genuine guy as Bernard, & he just goes to work every day & does his job. Now Rent-A-Mob are all over him. Classy stuff, that. One of his detractors is Banned by both blondepoker & sky Community, both which he hates so much that he has made at least 5 attempts to rejoin both using different aliases. If you don't like them mate, why so desperate to get back, some might ask......
What a weird society we live in.

Kylie, Liz, ABBA, Liza Minnelli, (yes, I knew of her Mum!, & I even saw Liza in "Cabaret).
I'm sorry, you might have to spell this out, though not too graphically please.
They are "gay icons" because........
