You do indeed.

Done it twice, three delays in four flights. Luck of the draw obv.

Been on the flight countless times.

3 Gatwick fire alarm evacuations PLUS 50/50 delay on the others.

Starting to think it might be me....

Been on a load, never had a delayed Virgin flight, had a couple arrive and leave early in fact, although one time my screen on the chair didn't work, they said there was no spare seats, so had to lump it, tilted me to death, received no compo, Still snap re-booked with them.

Did they not bring you the massive portable DVD player and selection of movies from the 80's?

No! i would have loved that, a bit of Ferris Bueller and Breakfast club! They reset it about 10 times then it just started going mental, so i wathced my missus' while she read a book. Neck was killing me. (should have swapped seats but i hate the middle)

Tom's Diary, currently in high-blather mode, was ruminating on the origin of words, place names, sayings.

I had occasion to wonder where "worse things happen at sea" arose from.

A little googling unearthed this gem, not at all what I expected......

I'm reliably informed that it alludes to a sexual act between men that was legal after 30 days at sea

If Gatters wants to call bs on that, I think I'll concur.

lolz, a little more googling would reveal that you've edited out the next line

'I'm reliably informed that it alludes to a sexual act between men that was legal after 30 days at sea! I have no idea if this is true or not but you never know! '

could that sound more vague/made up. if that's your only source then you really don't need a professional bullshit caller to dismiss it for you

Very sad to hear of the passing of Joe Frazier. A sports megastar back in the day, though I thought it rather sad when he tried to make a comeback in the early eighties, driven by the need for money I guess.

A headline about it in a newspaper out here had me puzzled, I was really not sure if the irony was intended or not, hard to tell with Americans.

"Smokin Joe dies of cancer"

My usual cash table at the Venetian is next to the tournament registration desk. Usually around 3pm there are 1 or 2 people queuing for the second DSE event of the day.

Yesterday the queue was massive and the field was well over 200 so much so they had to use cash tables as an overspill. I wondered what had attacted them? Then I saw him coffee in one hand in a smart "Skypoker" badged t shirt, old father time himself, "fresh" off a ten hour flight chomping at the bit to play poker.
