Not sutre if this is genuine, tosh, or one of the increasing number of conspiracy theory loonys around poker these days.

It is certainly possible that this is true. It really all depends on how the software was written.

I've only scanned the posts and haven't installed the Bodog poker client so I'm not going to comment on specifics.

But, just as an example of what might happen, consider this:

The client (i.e. the part of the software that runs on your PC) might need to know your identity to allow it to recognise which seat on the table is the one that you are sitting in. Sloppy design might lead to the software sending all player names to the client for ease of coding. It would then be a trivial matter to intercept those names and assign them to the anonymous names (if that's not a contradiction in terms) player001, player002 etc.

It really all hinges on what information is sent to the client and I find it quite believable that their software is designed in such a way that this "anonymity" is easily broken.

I want to call bullshit on 19,41 and 46 please. Nuclear plants quite unlikely to have smokestacks. When I'm promised pics of lovely nuclear plants, I don't want pollution spewing coal plants, ta.

Edit: of course they could be next door to something like an aluminium smelter, which is what the stacks could be from. But even so.

20 my fave. Love the spherical reactor buildings, very classical. Oh, and there's some whales in it.

re. ladbrokes, around 1-2 years ago i was one of their biggest rakers, i put up with the anonymous table introduction (didnt play them) and could see a point to it from their perspective. then the botting scandal came out and microgaming along with most of the other smaller networks were found to be riddled with bots in the midstakes 400-1knl games. Its incredibly frustrating that they put so much effort into protecting betting fish doing their absolute pieces by introducing and marketing anon tables (where collusion and botting is rife and harder to detect), but they put zero effort into removing and combating the threat bots pose to the online game/rant- bot networks that are clearing out millions from the poker community yearly.

+1 and teams colluding are even more successful.  I keep seeing stars are glossing over these facts by periodically crediting folks accounts with nominal sums.
