Have a great time in what is one of the most beautiful part of these great Isles of ours.
Also worth a look. Keep an eye out for the "battlesleds" wtf where they thinking.

Regards the shaving soldier, after 23 years of shaving most every day I still use a shaving brush and soap. Also have an original Crombie that must be 20-odd years old and looks as good as it did all those years ago although it is a blue tweed style effort
Take care
Geo
Thanks Geo, I'll save those photos for later, I hate to "rush" photos, it's like rushing a meal, it spoils it.
As to that part of Scotland, do you know if there are any animals or birds I might spot up there at this time of the year - seals, perhaps, eagles even? I'm gonna buy myself a proper camera after Xmas, too, posh job, I so want to be able to photograph wildlife.
And may I say, that walk you did - Jack, too - was one of THE great stories of 2011 on blonde, huge respect to you both.
Do you still wear those dreadful coloured jumpers these days? - you used to have a shocking pink one. I saw it as a sort of protest jumper.

And don't you forget it, girlie.

If I may ask, how much do you spend on Xmas pressies for her, & do you sort of set a limit?

Crombies are the dogs bollox
Truly, I've had two in my entire life, the first lasted 15 years, the next I still have, that one has managed 30 years, & it's as good as the day I got it. I never wear it, mind.
I took my Dad out on Friday night and he was talking about the coat he was wearing. He bought it to attend my first carol concert when I went to the Grammar School as he didn't have one until then - we were not well off and they seemed to spend most of their money on my school uniforms. Anyway - he wore it on Friday and I remarked that it had worn well (don't do the maths) and he admitted that he rarely wore it as it was a posh coat - so he only wore it for Christmas and when he went out with me.
It wasn't until later I realised he might have been having a dig....
It is a Crombie and a beautiful coat. Good choice.
Have a lovely break, stay off the internet. x
Thank you Miss D!
I don't think it was a dig by your Dad at all - even now, 30 years on, the Crombie only comes out on high days & holidays, it's like the Christmas Room we had as kids at Grannys, it was NEVER used except at Xmas, but it evokes such mermories. Mainly, to be fair, the smell of mothballs.
Talking of health, as I was to Glenn, your Dad has done well, eh?, & I really hope that continues, our Dads do mean so much to us, & we only get the one. I know you'll look after him.
x
Yes - he is doing brilliantly although every 3 months the dark clouds descend as we wait for the results of the next blood test. He will never be cured but I'm happy that he's on a holding pattern and not coming in to land.
He is working hard for his health, lots of fruit and veg and a long walk almost every day. The doctors agree with me that oxygen is very good at fighting disease although the jury's still out on the right spinning cells..... :-)
It's going to be a frugal christmas though as his wife is in charge this year - I'm guessing she doesn't want to spend her inheritance....
Have a good one x

When it comes to 'Fit for purpose' clothing, coats, trousers, boots etc, I am completely anal.
I don't mean fashion, or even nice looking stuff, but wearable - usable - practical, I'm your man.

Should be plenty of wildlife including seals, eagles and I would imagine Ospreys near where you are going Rod Paradise is the man to put you right on that.
Jumpers, I have one for every day of the week -
Pink
Cerise, Orange, Lime Green, Pastel Blue, Lemon, purple and a shocking almost neon blue. With socks to match.
During that final table in Edinburgh it was commented that I and 1 other where the only ones not wearing white socks. White socks!!! wtf. Did you know that I ALWAYS wear socks that match my top..................I never wear white tops (except for sport.)
Enjoy your week.

Yes, she's super-excited. It's her 9th birthday on the 28th too.
Pressies - don't really set a limit. She's not a greedy kid, and her Christmas/birthday list is usually a bunch of modest stuff (mainly craft/designery type things) which myself, her dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles just divide up between us. My mum usually gets her a 'big' present. This year it's a wii which I'm pretty happy about myself
We're off to see Matilda the musical in the west end the night before her birthday which I paid for last time I had a poker bink (thank goodness these things go on sale well in advance, eh?), and that's easily been my biggest expenditure.

So from the member of "the Old Gits" that "didn't have a coat" you now have now progressed to the member who has several more than the others and possibly as many of all of us combined. How times change.
I hope you have a lovely time in the purple land North of the border, I'll raise a glass to you on Sunday.

Happy Holidays Tony.
Take some photos, even out of focus could be described as ethereal arty landscapes!

hope you enjoy your holiday. I'm rather guilty that I haven't been in that part of the world since I was 14 - on a youth hostel rock climbing course! I left Glasgow about 6am on a train north, then a ferry to Skye, then a bus, then a 10 mile walk over a moorland pass to Glenbrittle. Thought nothing of it!
