well I was only trying to point out that you've already seen, liked and commented on the quote but now that you mention it the following seems fair

TK,

I just wanted to be a bit random and say 'nice one, well done' on your Daniel Neg interview... I don't know when it was but I'm just up late downloading some movies from my new educational poker site I've joined with Sky Poker on in the background.

And the Dan N interview comes up and among other beauties is this...

TK - 'So, Danie, you're a bit of a sports bettor?'
Negreanu - 'Yeah well Ice Hockey, I used to do that a lot'
TK - 'Oh the thing with the ball and stick..'
Neg - 'errr... yeah'
TK - 'Thats what the girls play here in England...'
Neg - 'errr....'

At this point I actually started rolling around my chair and chortling to myself!

So thank you for this moment of joviality.. and take care, see you soon I'm sure.

jb

Thank you!

I just tried to find it, but no success, though I do vaguely remember it. You gotta give them big-shots a bit of a poke now & then, eh?

As Poker Pros go, he is superb, always ready to give an interview, & always branded up. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he does a brilliant job for 'Stars, & is always on message. Many a younger Pro would do well to learn from him in that respect.

I believe Camel is a huge Danny fan.

I liked the show,it seemed to have more poker content,I don't know if it is the split format or the presenter/analyst combination.
The picture seemed soft almost out of focus though.

Happy Anniversary Tikay.

7 Years today since you decided to become a Blonde.

Amazing, but geeky spot, that, Jim.

Yes, 29th January 2005 was the day the Forum began.

Amongst those who signed up that day, and remain active on blonde to this day, were Karabiner, bookiebasher, bobby1, NewportLad, I KNOW IT, luckyblind, Nick Whiten (now at DTD), & byronicacid.

I was in Copenhagen, at the EPT, & I did my first, impromptu, Live Update. Lots of stories around it, in fact, I might just bore everyone to death & tell them, too, but special mention of Joe Beevers who was so helpful to me that day.  We have remained very good friends, often working together, since then, though we had a bit of a tiff & a separation during the P4C thing. That was inevitable, as we were opposite sides of a very  tricky & uncomfortable fence, but we are as cool as cucumbers (an odd expression) these days, & I saw him quite recently, socially. He has been helpful & supportive to blonde throughout.

I really wish I had the time to write more, as I could pen so many stories which started that day.

Interesting (perhaps….) to see the top four finishers in that particular Season 1 EPT.

1st – Noah Boaken

2nd – Ram Vaswani

3rd – Charalambos Xanthos (aka Bambos)

4th - Thewy

156 runners, & $190k up top, with $30k to 4th.

My, how the EPT has grown, & how poker has changed. Thewy, meanwhile, is still getting the job done, with three tidy Live Comps won in the last 9 months from a pretty small sample.

My, how time flies and so much water has flowed under many bridges.
I remember that was the year when Paul Maxfield was runner up in the WPT Championship, I wanted to post what was happening but my internet went down at home, bearing in mind Paul was a close friend and we had been  talking on the phone after each days play, I was gutted that I wouldn't be able to follow the action on a certain sites updates .(remember this was 2005) Then Peter (Bandit ) Evans called me and told me to come over to his and follow it from there. Peter lived around 30 miles away but I couldnt get there quick enough and followed the updates through out the night reproducing them on Blonde. That is one night I will never forget.
Paul unfortunately was the runner up that night but that tournament didnt go with out a lot of controversy

Strangely enough mate I remember that and just to show it's a small world, I picked him as the William Hill poker rankings European player of the month and I think Tikay interviewed him.

I certainly did, I went to his office one afternoon, somewhere near Stoke I seem to recall, with wormster as Cameraman, & Rhowena came along to shoot some stills.

A few weeks later, we had a round of golf, near Trentham Gardens I believe, Paul Maxfield, Dave Colclough as partners, & John Shipley paired with me, iirc, & we got battered, Maxi played a good game.

Maxi had won a WPT in 2004, $1,700,000 or thereabouts, after a bit of a do with Tuan Le, but as Craig alludes, not without some side issues, which are probably best left unwritten for now. His life took a different turn then I gather, & he disappeared off the scene, but I see he re-appeared a year or so ago & min-cashed in a £300 affair at Stoke Circus of all places. Stoke to Vegas and back.

He played a lot of Omaha, too. He was very confident in his ability, but not arrogant, & we got along fine.

Who can name that all of that rogues gallery in the second photo?

Camel may be interested to know that Daniel Negreanu just had a short lived spat with inside poker magazine on 2 plus 2.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29/news-views-gossip/new-negreanu-interview-tweets-they-twisted-everthing-1161417/

The spat is over about nuances of various words, and the tone.  Despite this, I think the interview is probably worth a read.  He makes some good points about the attractiveness of poker for TV, though TK will probably put him right.

Thanks!

We have been doing much the same Shows for 5 years, & we needed to freshen it up, change a few fundamentals.

Last night's 5 hour stint breaks down into 5 different Shows, we sort of top & tail each hour, which then go out as standalones, so it provides a good bit of varied content.

Was incredibly impressed with Redmond Lee, he is a TV natural, speaks so well, & with great confidence, & of course, he can play a bit. It was only his 4th Show, but he looked like he had been doing TV for years. He's off to Vegas end of May for the entire duration World Series, though he mainly plays Cash out there.

James Hartigan continues to impress, too, so professional, he's gone to Deauville today to do the EPT Show.

Redmond off to Vegas, James to Deauville, me to Stoke. Living the dream.

Wow, they have some grammatical pedants over there, poor Gatters would get crushed by them kids, me too. I think it wa 2+2 that first called me a "lol-Pro". Good read lads, you got me there.

I'll read the whole thing prooperly later but nice link, thank you.

2+2 really makes me laugh at times, I try to imagine the types that Post there, such a wide range between genius & idiots, they have the whole damn lot.

Camel will enjoy seeing Daniel getting his barnet cut off, though. I believe Thewy is a big fan, too.

Any idea why John has stepped down from the running of the ept's Tikay?

Mr Duthie?

If you are looking for a story related to the DOJ, FBI & 'Stars, I have to disappoint you I'm afraid!

And he was not running the EPT, had not been for some years, latterly he just had a TV consultancy thing, I think. I believe it was just a straightforward desire to get back to "proper" (non-poker) TV & Film work, & I would imagine that whilst he was with 'Stars, there was a non-compete clause, so he just chose to move on. He is quite accomplished in TV & Film Direction, see.....

As an assistant director he worked alongside directors such as Charles Sturridge, Lewis Gilbert and Bille August on projects such as Longitude, Haunted and The House of the Spirits. Having worked as a second unit director on the TV serial Kavanagh QC, he moved on to become a full-time director on television serials including As If, Clocking Off and Silent Witness, which won an RTS award for Best Editing and a BAFTA Award for Best Drama Serial. He created and Executive Produced the European Poker Tour series of TV programmes now in its sixth season and continues to consult on the series.

A better 'Stars related resignation question might have been about their ex CEO Gabriel Campos, (he resigned 1st February officially, I believe), but once again, that was not linked to the ever-growing accumulation of DOJ/FBI clouds which one must assume are still gathering darkly above 'Stars. (Can clouds gather above stars, or would the 2+2 pedants shoot me down for that?). That was unrelated to the DOJ affair, though I had privately assumed a while back it was, but I was wrong, it was a much more basic thing, related, I am told, to his working relationships within the Company. Once again, no intrigue.

No popcorn there, either, then.

PS - I gather 'Stars will no longer televise UKIPT, fwiiw, not sure if that is true though. Must have cost an absolute bomb, that, hard to see how payback was achieved.

You have to love this line from that interview.

'There will always be people who don’t like what I have to say, but I genuinely question their intellect.'

If that's how it is maybe The Camel is right.

I used to work for a guy who regularly said "Let's all be reasonable, & see it my way".

Was he a big Brian Clough fan?

Michael Parkinson: How do you react when someone says, "Boss, you're doing it wrong?"
Brian Clough: Well, I ask him how *he* thinks it ought to be done. And then we get down to it, and we talk about it for twenty minutes, and then we decide that I was right.
