Break of journey
You may not start, break and resume, or end your journey at any intermediate station except to change to/from connecting trains as shown on the ticket(s) or other valid travel itinerary.

Who wrote the racing book Tony and what is the TV tourney thing you are putting together?

Ahh, expert itt!
Thanka Maureen, never even knew you read this Diary.
Why is that so, for what purpose? There is obviously a good reason, but it does not readily spring to mind.
I have vacancies here - Girile Corry, Train Ticket Corry, Window Cleaning Corry? Applications in writing, please. No wages, but more no wages than Tom.

Redsimon nailed it - it was Chompy, aka Graham Wheldon, late of The Racing Post.
He deffo wrote one, but he is claiming two. I believe the second one (second photo) was co-authored.
The first is reviewed here, in, err, 1998......
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/racing-be-quick-on-the-draw-for-fast-buck-1167434.html
Available here (see below), though apparently they cost as much as $1.15 now. Presumably he has retired to the Fens on the proceeds, & now drives a pimps car wih a personalised plate, "CH1OMPY"

Excuse the small photos, but they were very small books, the photos are probably lifesize.

I need to hold off for a little while on details (code for I am still wrestling with the details), but I did do a little tease this morning. FIVE players then PM'd or messaged me asking for a seat!
Full Tilt & Matchroom TV tourneys have almost died, & we have some ideas & kit we think we can do a half decent job with. Getting dates to suit everyone is a real pita, though.
That file landed on my desk this week & is taxing me somewhat so far. Never mind, no pain, no gain.

I have known Chomps for a good few years, including when he was a racing Post journo, & we do some financials together, but I never once knew he was a best-selling author.
Anyone else on here hiding their light under a bushel?

I think I used to buy most things raceform produced in the 80s and 90s. Most of them have disappeared from my bookshelves, might venture onto amazon or ebay for nostalgias sake

It's all very well saying - I'm getting off the train one stop early, but there's nothing to then stop the same person getting back on the train later and completing the journey; which is what the real issue is.
There's a legal requirement to offer cheap tickets - but apart from that the tickets are cheap because those journeys in particular need the train filling. Advance tickets for other times aren't as cheap - if you get off mid journey on the train with low demand, you can get back on to a train which is in high demand - and you haven't paid for that.
Having said that, I've messed up on train tickets a few times over the years and I've never ever had a problem once I've explained the situation. Obviously there are obnoxious train staff around - but I suspect a lot of time the problems arise from the customer being obnoxious themselves and winding up the train staff so they retaliate.
