I'm not levelling, you should still watch it because it's good and I wouldn't want to put you off, I disagree with Tighty and think that if you main fear is that it will be hagiographic, those fears will come true. But you'll still like it.
Oooh, hagiographic, that's a new one on me!
I looked it up - yup, understand now. Bet Tighty knew already.
How do you have words like that in your armoury, are you widely read, well educated, or do you just happen to know such things?
I was just chatting with another bunch of guys, elsewhere, today, & was saying how much I wished I had a better vocab, as I'd love to write a book. Apparently - they tell me - I write as I speak, which (might be) good for Forums & the like, little short stuff, but would be a neat trick to pull off in a book.
I just re-visited the bio of Frankie Fraser - Mad Frankie Fraser, this chap.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankie_Fraser
(Note his footballing relatives).
He was barely literate, & very much wrote as he spoke, but his bio was all the better for that, & it is one of the best reads I can recall, really gripping, & the way he used language came across beautifully.
"So me & John does him over, gave him a proper bashing up, he was a game little bugger, but I had to teach him whats what, so I stuck a chopper in his head & slashed him, you have to respect blokes like that".
So a decent vocab is not mandatory, but you can only get away with it if you have a certain (high) profile.
Surely this is a level. I love true crime and was really looking forward to this and persevered for about 70% of the bok but in the end I gave up. It was literally the sentence you have quoted above but repeted for a couple of hundred pages in different ways. I got no sense of his motivations, morals etc. On the other hand I thought Charlie Richardsons autoboagraphy was a wonderful read.

Read with interest your earlier post that u feel u need to increase your vocabulary. Seems to be working. Watching u giving PLO tips on 865, and your first point, that PLO is a volatile game, has been illistrated the first time by saying it's "swingy and swongy" and when u reiterated the point, that it's "wingy and wongy". Just getting my dictionary out....

Wingy
Soaring with wings, or as if with wings; volatile airy.
Those wingy mysteries in divinity.
Wongy
Very cool, funny, random.
Yay thats so wongy!

Weekly Weigh-In
This was as of yesterday, Monday is my AWeighDay.
Monday March 12 - 14st 0lbs
Monday March 19 - 13st 8lbs
Monday March 26 - 13st 2lbs
Monday, April 2nd - 12st 12lbs
Monday April 9th - 12st 10lbs.
Monday April 16th - 12st 8lbs
Monday April 23rd - 12st 6lbs
Monday April 30th - 12st 5lbs.
Monday May 7th - 12st 2lbs
Last week, I thought, & wrote.....
"Realistically, 12st by the time I head to Vegas in 7 weeks time looks about as good as I dare hope for, but that'd be just fine."
Am now pretty sure I can beat that, though it will be a much slower weight loss now. Anything in the "11's" would be good, fingers crossed something like 11-10 might be possible.
My latest Diet-Food fad is mushrooms, which are almost nil calories, they mix with most meals, & make a good snack when a little peckish.
Had some fresh trout over the weekend, but was not mad on it, it's so inconvenient that fish have bones.
Despite a low calorie intake, my energy levels are still good, the key (for me) is to get more sleep. The whole world looks better when I am not so tired.

TYVM.
I've really enjoyed it immensely.
It's an endless circle for me, lose it, pile it back on, lose it......
It will always be so, too.

Played the DTD £500 on Saturday, & had a perfectly lovely day.
Opening table had Trevor Pearson (typhoon) to my right, a most interesting, intelligent & clever guy, who is a commodities trader in real life.
To my left was Sunil Mistri, what a nice guy, good company too, & to his left, Tom Langley, not sure we had spoken previously, but I liked him, & he conducted himself wonderfully. Behind them was, I believe, Adam Daniel, who seems to take poker, & himself, quite seriously.
Adam got me off a half decent hand early with a huge overbet, & typically, I lacked the bottle to call, but he did it again & I did the hero thing & this time I got it right. Later, a chap in Seat One called all the way for his tourney life against him with 4th pair, 6 kicker (missed U & D) & was good!
I think Billy Ngo (sp) joined later, another guy with a lovely disposition, looked a good player to me.
This hand, as largely correctly reported by JGillDTD, then went off between Billy & I..... ( I held pocket sevens)
".....
Board reads
Anon bets 750
Tikay "1525, One of those kiddy bets, 2.1x"
Anon puts chips in as Tikay announces "I have a house"
However didn't realise Anon had now made it 5,100 to play
Tikay folds quick enough showing , Anon left saying "wowwwwww, wow" as he mucks his hand....."
In fact, for once, I dwelled a good bit after that river fiasco before folding. There was some considerable rolling of eyes around the table at my fold, perhaps rightly, but he had been playing ABC & c-betting all flops where he had been the pre-flop aggressor, but this time he gave me a free card, & the danger signals registered inside my tiny mind.
Nits can always find an excuse for folding......

Had a nice day out yesterday Tony, one for your list if you are travelling north of the border.
I went to New Lanark - a world heritage site. It was a mill with associated town for the workers, where a new owner (a welshman called Robert Owen) tried to turn away from the 'dark satanic mills' where workers were paid in tokens only redeemable in the company shop, health care & education were non-existent. His efforts are thought to be an influence behind the co-operative movement. The mill is nestled in a fairly steep valley, and beautifully preserved. Main attraction for me was the peregrines nesting a couple of miles up the gorge, and a viewing point with spotters scopes across the river giving a great view of the Falcon in the nest with her 2 chicks. I was also fortunate enough to see the tercel returning to the nest with a pigeon while walking back to the mill.
It's only a few miles from the main Motorway up to Glasgow & worth a detour for a couple of hours.
(Sadly not my pic)

Thanks Rod.
Am planning my next trip to north west Scotland in late September or early October, so I might just drop in on the way North. Last time, stopped over at Loch Lomond, just to break the long drive really, & it was rather nice to have an overnight break, then the holiday “proper” stats next day, on that beautiful road North up to Fort William & beyond.
Was interested in the word “tercel” which I had not seen before. I looked it up, & it’s origin seems cloudy…..thought this was quite interesting….
The traditional term for a male falcon is tercel or tiercel, from Latin tertius = third, because of the belief that only one in three eggs hatched a male bird.
Some sources give the etymology as deriving from the fact that a male falcon is approximately one third smaller than the female.
That photo you posted – for some odd reason it reminded me of the view from the train as you pass over the Tweed, at Berwick.

Yay!
I'm just not sure what else he can come back at me with there. A-K, I suppose, but he knows how nitty I am, & when I do the comedy min-raise, I'm pretty sure he was mentally high-fiving -
got him!
Meant to ask - how did meeeting up with your Sister go? Emotional, I bet. I know you Greek persons.
