In Live poker, we see it & do it all the time.

The player....

Wears a a hoodie/is young (must be good)

Is French/German/Spanish (must be bad)

Is middle-aged or old (is tight & shite)

Wears brown shoes (not to be trusted)

Eyebrows are close together or even join in the middle (well dodgy).

I saw this photo on Tighty's Update last week. I don't know the player, or anything about him.

So, you join his Table, & this is what you see.

Very first hand, he raises into your Big Blind.

What snap judgement do you make of him as a poker player - if any?

Phallic chip stack = keen to assert authority over hands he plays (might not be aggressive but will try to win every hand he is in with power)

Hat and very baggy hoodie combo = eager to cover up = self conscious deep down. Will be worried about any tells. If you call a bluff of his, make sure he believes you found a tell.

No, not at all, it is 100% genuine, & I know, or have heard or read, abso nothing whatoever about the chap, good or bad, & never set eyes on him irl.

The photo jumped off the page though, & I've been musing about it ever since, the psychology & mindsets of poker players intrigues.

Previous evidence? I vividly recall Toby Lewis played an early SPT Grand Final, (& he had his attitudey hat in those days), he was running over the Table, & had one of the biggest & most phallic stacks I have ever seen. I made a snap judgement of him at the time which could not have been more wrong.

I see these phallic stacks more often at Cash Tables, actually.

I'm just curious what others think at first sight, there is no hidden agenda.

Hi TIKAY , i was on this lads table at the start of tourney.
Never met him before but he was as the hoodie suggested (lol) active.
He had very good bet sizing and soon became obv he played a lot online.
Turned out we had a few battles and regardless of if he won or lost was very pleasant, confident but deff not a big headed loud mouth sort some people may perceive about the said attired sort.
Spoke to him in the breaks and he was very helpful regarding situational plays etc, deff learnt a bit from him.

No one stacks chips higher than Lawrence Gosney in terms of height in single columns. I how they don't fall over I will never know. Will now try to find a picture where he can't see over the top of them.
