You played the nut nut draw hand which lost you a load of chips fine imho...stop sweating those things, its just variance. Enjoy the Linit O8, just remember pot odds and keep your basic instincts of playing hands to scoop. The things you will see in the early stages of a O8 limit MTT can blow your mind if you let it though!

I'll tell a wonderful tale about these "bad" plays & players as soon as I can.

For now, I gotta dash Downtown, Binions awaits.

Oooohhhhhh.

Gonna rip the table a new arsehole. Well, just gently, like.

Lady Variance is all over me today, had three scoops already. After three levels, 26,000 from 20,000.

Included Aces which filled up on the end, with no low, and A-A-2-3 on a flop of 8-8-7. Chap had flopped QUAD eights. Turn and river both Aces, for quads over quads. Ouch.

Had a long and fantastic chat with Oklohoma Johnny Hale, who, unbelievably, remembered me from Aviation Club de France in 2005, when I interviewed him. What a thing, and a privilege to meet such a grand old sort, still proudly wearing his WSOP "Player of the Year" bracelet. He must be in his eighties now.

Great day, whatever happens.

My friend who played with Oklahoma Johnny the other day said he was full of southern phrases (he actually said "Texas", but I - through an uncharacteristic moment of charity - let that slide), his favourite being:

"Heck, I woulda called that every day of the week and twice on Sunday"

Any limit shizzling to report?

Was the game as enjoyable as PLO8 for you?

Off the top of my head and without consulting Ray Zee (made up name ldo) I would have thought that the best strategy was to play even tighter at the limit form of the game as so many hands are going to stay in that might not in PLO8.

After several days of blisteringly hot, almost furnace heat, this morning, @ 0530, I spotted some clouds.

First clouds I've seen since I arrived.

Incred!

Guess it is the same back home, right?

Huge congratulations to Barney Boatman, what a thing!

Barney must be getting on for 60, he is certainly north of 55. Think he once made THREE back to back WSOP Final Tables, & did tons of commentary on various stuff, including LNP.

Barney, & his THM colleagues, are Elder Statesmen of the UK Poker Scene, and have kept their noses clean for over a decade.

They pioneered the big sponsorship deals with their original PRIMO deal, which so inspired so many of us, as well as their stuff on Late Night Poker.

They had a bit of a nasty legal dispute & potential court case over the Database with Poker Listings (or was it Poker Pages?) in around 2005, & things looked very grim for THM one way & another, & I know it was a tough time for them

Later, they were with Full Tilt for many years, & when that went all tits up, things looked black again, but they worked through it somehow, & soon struck a deal with Genting.

They set up THM, largely the work of Joe, I think, aided mostly by Barney, & they now have a very impressive, & hugely valuable, Database over there.

Their Forum inspired many others to start, including blonde, & Joe was amazingly helpful to me, & blonde, in the early days. THM was an un-Moderated Forum early doors, & started going the same way as Betfair, Gutshot & 2+2, which was what bought about the decision to start blonde Forum, we thought there was room for a Forum where better standards & a semblance of decency & respect was the norm, something we are still trying to achieve, as it happens. Subsequently, THM took the decision to install Moderators, & the place soon recovered magnificently.

Many congrats to Barney. (Barny?)
