I would think every uni has one, if only for the purposes of publishing their students' PhD theses or other university publications.

The OUP is the largest in the world.

The American dictionary would be Webster's. His first version was in the early 19th Century.

Did Webster just take the OED, copy it, and spell some stuff wrong?

I think the U key on his typewriter was functioning intermittently at best.

Decided to trundle down to Brighton to play their 1 hour clock £220 thing.

Arrived in Brighton 30 minutes early for the 5pm start, so pulled up on the top of the Downs and took the air and view for 15 minutes. Very nice, watching the gulls ride the wind.

Arrived at the Cardroom 10 minutes early for the 5pm start, there were 8 tables already playing, as it started at 4pm. Must stop speed reading stuff.

Seen At-It-Bradders, Foxy, The Legend that is Sid, Flushy, and all the other usual reprobates that frequent this part of the world. Love it down here, always great craic.

Big weekend down there, I understand. Should be entertaining if you were to venture out after the pokerz, plenty of pics, please.

25,000 chips, start at 25-50, and all levels, with a 1 hour clock. Snooze time then.

I may even break with tradition and post a few poker updates.

Don't get that stuff on the Kettle Diary.

Nice table, quite chatty and friendly, but I upset one guy already.

I have the button, Foxy raises UTG, (atc merchant) he gets 5 callers. And I have K-J. On the button.

Seems a clear raise to me, so I did.

Everyone folds except one guy, in cut off, he calls.

Long story short, A-10 man, to my immediate right, decided to play his hand slow.

Flop is A-K-4

He checks, I bet, he calls.

Turn is the 5.

Rinse repeat.

River is the J, giving me 2 pair.

He checks gain. I bet again. He calls again. His A-10 is no good.

"Bet you don't teach them to raise with K-J when you are on the telly".

Some folks do get arsey when they lose a hand of poker.

I think my play there was standard. Lucky, of course, but just standard.

He is having a little sulky wulk now. He'll soon come round. When he wins a hand.

Awkward pre- flop spot now arises against hoodie and shades man.

My BB, he raises from the cut off to 400..

I have A-K.

For better or worse, in this seat, at this stage, I don't much like raising, don't much fancy being oop to 4 players if I miss the flop. Hoodie Man does not strike me as the type to raise fold pre flop with position.

Let us see a flop. Two other callers.

Flop K-K-Q.

Hello........

I check called flop and turn, then bet the river, he tanked for several minutes, gave me the face like thunder stare down, and folded.

My 25,000 is now 35,000.

Even better, I have a Last Longer with Flushy.

How much luck can one man get?

Ooh, I have a reader.

I suspect the highlight will be a description of the upcoming buffet (8.20pm, free to ALL players....), especially as we both have refined tastes and palates.

Meanwhile, Foxy just bluffed me off a winner, and I have been dribbling.

31,000.

109 entries, 93 remain.

Oh good. Assumed you were out.

Please. There was no need for that. No need at all. Just sleeping, that's all.

Best not tell Tom about the buffet.
