Three more Star Spangled Banners on the Herbiemob page so far this year then
Well played Sir.
So, did the live reporting help?
I've deliberately swerved that question until I finish playing, David, & I'll explain why tomorrow. Something of a double-edged sword.
Thanks, yes, 3 more Vegas herbies.
I really have not yet reconciled how I failed to Final yesterday, I will understand it better when a few days have passed & I can view it with less emotion. I had a mountain of chips 2 tables out, but could not hang onto them. It's not even as if I'm the type to splash chips around, I'm pretty nitty. I feel the same as I did after returning to Venetian above average a week or so ago, close to the money, & coming away empty handed.
We were 5 handed for a long time yesterday, & I had a dreadfully awkward seat with 2 aggro kids to my immediate left on sentry duty. I never lost any huge pots, I just dribbled, & could not connect with anything. I somehow sense I was outplayed. That does not bother me too much, as I played the very best I could, I was right on my A game. I just think maybe them kids had my number.
I did get in 3 pots which were huge, & could have gone either way, I chopped 2 & got quartered in the other. Chopping, & being quartered, really is the difference I suppose.
The trip has taught me that I have constructed my PLO, PLO8 & Big O ranges reasonably well, if a little tight. The big weakness
I have is lack of aggression, lack of gamble. It seems to be incurable.
I've looked at this closely in my own play and I don't think it's incurable. Like me I just don't think that you can convince yourself that it's genuinely the right thing to do in the situation. If you truly believed it you would do it.
Its a fantastic subject, Tom. I DO truly believe I need to be more aggressive (in poker), but I find it extremely hard to do.
I know it is the right thing to do, I just find it very hard to actually pull the trigger sometimes.
Once I become Billy Low Stack - a regular occurrence - I have no trouble getting it in fairly wide & light, & it works reasonably well, but of course get it wrong once when we are a shortie & it's game over.
There was a kid yesterday who was 3 betting light., I absolutely KNEW what he was up to, & all I had to do was find something I could 4 bet with. In theory, of course, if he is light, I can be light, but that's when the headache comes, I look at my spanners & think "nah, I just cant do it with these".
Oddly, it was him who banana'd me. I was pretty sure he was light again so I found the trigger. He had the Aces, obv.....
Great subject to discuss, this - I think the way we play poker generally reflects our character. And in real life, I'm not aggressive, not at all.
I think with you method you will have frequent small cashes, with the gambly method you will have infrequent bigger cashes.
The gambly game is very exhilarating but just as painful when you donk off a good stack with spanners.

I've known you a long time and that is the biggest stack of chips I've ever seen you sitting behind.
You should frame this picture.
You may well be right, Keith, very rare for me to be so chipped up late stage.
The photo was taken by my Boss, (or one of them, I have about 27 of them) from Next Door, as he was incapable of taking it on his camera. His surprise was greater than yours. And mine, truth to tell.
It seems I have your blessing to upload it again, so here we go, a happy memory. Think I'll call it "And then the wheels came off".
You looks very young in this picture too.
Not a day over 68.

Exactly that, every word of it. My Herbie says it all, dozens of little cashes.
Have to say, I was mixing it up more than usual yesterday, & winning those big pots was SO exhilarating & exciting, but the feeling after going busto was worse than usual.
In a way, I suppose poker, or gambling generally, is a bit like drugs, we get highs, inevitably followed by lows. Right now I'm as flat as a pancake. (Waistline excepted).
If I play the WSOP $3,000 PLO8 this afternoon, it'll all start again......

I must say that playing short-handed on the last two tables is something I find most uncomfortable too.
Far more so than playing short-handed on a final*

What?
Here, have some of this.
Note particularly that unlike Great Britain, in America, the platforms are not raised, so we have to step up to enter the carriages.
That means we see the whole loco & train from a different perspective, & they look so much bigger.
And if that does not fascinate everyone, there is no hope for us.

Why on earth wouldn't you have a raised platform?
They charge $55 an ounce for a steak (plus tax, six ounce minimum, no timewasters) but can't get a bit of extra concrete so you don't have to get on a ladder to get the train.
Bewildering.

Well played mate, nice to get another cash in. You must be playing well to be making these big runs so don't let a short spell of bad cards worry you.
Loving the T shirts too, think you should treat em out of your winnings tho and get Ripio and Arsio added.
All the best in today's event too.

Yea pull yourself together Tikay! Oh I had a mountain of chips, oh how I lost them, boo hoo I am a nit. In my mind the reason for your lack of aggression is due to this high drama lamenting process. People who do that want to protect themselves from the horrible emotion so dwindle away whilst twiddling their willy. Emotion is a really big enemy of poker, not just at the table but in these moments of reflection. Positive emotion healthy, negative emotion cancerous, at any time of the day or night. I mean the reality is you got stuck in there, did your thing, and got bananas in a really respectable position. The fucking end. Next case. The trick is not to bat an eyelid when you banana, then aggro is much easier. Oh but I can't do that because (insert reason). Yes you can do that because it's history mate. You are in Vegas, playing cards tonight, cashing da monies, hooters girls at the table, trouble with the law. You living the life man so let's go and rip some new ones.

I think you should use a big bunch of bananas as a card-protector in this WSOP $3K jobbie and dispense them as appropriate.
Hopefully you will end up on the final table with a big stack and no bananas left.

We are in gung-ho mood this afternoon, after being all dithery this morning, and Aggro Mode is engaged.
We are currently 5 handed, and I button raised to 125.
Two callers, and we see this flop.
We have none of this, obv, but it's a great bluffing flop, especially in O8.
We bet.
Suspicious looking dude flats us. Whoops.
It runs out low low, we go check check, my low gets there v his bare jack, chop chop.
Table image as an at it merchant achieved at no cost. How good is that?
