OK, arrived safe & sound, & am now esconsed in a lovely room at Planet Hollywood.

From leaving home at 2am, it took exactly 24 hours before I got booked into my Vegas hotel, sheesh.

I picked up Compo at 0430 from his esquisitely beautiful home near Stansted Airport. Intending to be "in & out", I fell in love with his dog, "Bosco", & found it tough to get back on the road. Bosco is named after one of his wife's childhood boyfriends (!), and is just so cute. He was rescued from a dogs home, & is mainly Jack Russell with some variety thrown in. Big inquisitive eyes, & ears never stop going back & forth. A smasher.

A quick diversion en route to Gatwick to collect some forgotten equipment for the TV Crew, & we were at Gatters for 0700. Wooly Jumper then managed to delay the flight by 2 hours, & Gatwick was bursting at the seams, so we could not get food. Perused the bookshop, & purchased 3 books - the Vincent O'Brien biography, a book about the Falkland War, & a fascinting tome about quantam physics, "In search of Schrodinger's Cat" by John Gribben. Did the cat die? Well that's the question...... it's (Quantum physics) is way too complicated for me to grasp, but it's a facinsating read & I strongly recommend it. It's all a matter of matter, really....

So, the flight landed in Vegas 2 hours late, then Wooly Jumper messed up again, & we could not disembark for another hour, due to a problem with the jetty. FFS.....

Tim the Sound Man was outside waiting for us with a car. We have 2 hire cars for the crew - there are 6 of us - & we are doing a lot of location filming, so we need the cars to lug the kit around. Also, we hope to film some stuff from one of the cars - a bright red, convertible Mustang. The body is pressed from the metal they make soup tins out of, but it's got a lovely grunty engine. Compo left his Driving Licence behind, so I got the driving job, poo. We also have a big Dodge jobbie.

So having unpacked in my room, I needed food, & a sleep, so went downstairs & ate at a wonderful buffet here at Planet Hollywood, superb, I must say.

So, time for a much needed sleep, but then I did a silly thing.

As we are working about 18 hours straight tomorrow (Monday) & ditto Wednesday, I decided that after a kip, I'd play a late night comp here, get some poker in, like, so popped across to the Poker Room to check the times of the comps later in the evening. Anyhow, the geezer says there is one just started, $60, you can join that. But I'd just finished a 24 hour travel stint, so that'd be daft......

Well, daft or not, I could not resist, so I sat down in it. Doubled up very first hand, was chip daddy within 20 minutes, Finalled with half the chips, had 80% of the chips three-handed, & was in such good Form that I even won every hand Heads-Up, now that's a first. So First it was, and a very handy unchopped $1,238 was added to the tikay dollar bankroll. Delighted, but not very satisfying, I just hit everything, throughout, I did not need to play well, I won every hand I played. Geezer moved in on me with AK, I find AA. Had AK 4 times, racing each time, won each time. With 3 or 4 left, I was finding that I could call the shorties with any hand & still outrdraw them. Crazy. Nice though, but I never had to "play", & I relish a short-stacked grind. Still, I'll take it......

Compo busted early - he had 8-8 on a J-J-8 Flop & lost to A-J!

Thewy texted me, he was playing Cash at the Venetian with Jeff Buffenburger & 77dave (Jim McShane), we were gonna hook up later tonight, but I was too tired in the end.

Saw some really wiierd TD Decisions tonight, but that's for another Post.

Oh, the weather - 42c, that's 109f......!

Two weird TD Decisions here at Planet Hollywood tonight.

Compo found AA, announced "Raise", & before he announced how much, the geezer behind said "I call".

Well, what would you do in Compo's position?

He massively overbets it by moving all-in, the guy has already announced "Call" so he has to call. But when Compo goes all-in, the geezer passes! Floor is summoned, & the geezer is alowed to Pass.....

On my Table, a young lairy kid is messing about, he's got no idea how the game works but knows it all. He's busted out three times already, but you can buy back in up to 4 times!

There are 90 seconds left to the end of the "rebuy back in" phase, so he goes all-in for 900, blinds 100-200. He gets 4 callers, not surprisingly, he was an any 2 cards merchant, but THEN the BB moves over the top (he can) for a massive amount. All the limpers now Pass.

At this point, heads-up, there are 10 seconds left to the end of the rebuy period. "On their backs" says the Dealer. At which point, Lairy Boy turns over 5-2, (BB had A-4!) & announces "I muck my hand, I have 5 seconds left to Rebuy" & he leaves the table to go & rebuy before the clock ran out!

Despite all manner of hooting & hollering, his decision to muck is accepted, & he rebuys just in time. He then returns & shakes hands with A-4 man - his mate, apparently.

I guess it's a case of when in Rome......

Anyway, I busted him later.

You got him in one Ralph!

I must say, he's a wonderful companion, and a truly nice guy. Knows all the jockeys & trainers, & spends 3 months every year "working" in Dubai. Some life these TV wallhas have, eh?

In my really rather large & lovely Room here, there is a bottle of still water by the bed, attrched to which is a little sticker thingy.

"This bottle of Aquafina is provided as a service to our Guests. If consumed, a $4.95 charge will be billed to your Room for your convenience......"

But as Maureen said, the food here is splendid, & a glass of coke comes in a bucket, with tons of ice.

"Have a nice day".......
