Tikay, take it easy fella. I am sure that you have posted before about crashing your car after falling asleep behind the wheel.

Watched the Poker Week Show yesterday and was great, thanks for the kind words at the end.
But what really cracked me up was you nicking compos chips and putting them in your pile. I dont know why i found it so funny but it had me in tears and your face was so serous while doing it- I have to assume you have done that before in real games by the way you carried it out!
It was very good. Michelle was in hysterics. A classic comedy duo - like beavis and butthead.
As for the driving whilst tired - Tikay, you should know better. It's just as bad as drunk driving.

So much to catch up on, I'm getting further & furter behind with this Diary, so beware, I'm gonna try & catch up today.
But first, driving while too tired.
To all those who expressed concern as to my health & work-rate, thank you, I'm touched. As to work-rate, I don't consider what I do as "work", & I love every minute of it, & anyway, hard work never killed anyone.
But as to driving when very tired, that's a hands-up job, & it was a daft thing to do, which I regret now. I intend to organise myself better to get more sleep, & certainly not drive when tired. As someone mentioned, I've fallen asleep at the wheel of a car before - twice actually - & have, luckily, never harmed anyone else, or even myself. On the last occasion, my car rolled 3 times on the M62 in the middle of the rush-hour & never touched another vehicle! The car ended up on the embankment, upside down, with a tyre ripped off. The coppers arrive, & I'm bricking it, what do I tell them? "Have a puncture did we Son?" says PC Traffic, & I'm off the hook, phew......But yes, it's not big, it's not clever, & I'm pretty ashamed of myself, not for what I may do to myself, but to others. But it's an honest Diary, so it had to be told.
As to work-rate, I intend to carry on "as is", until the music stops, you never know, I may get the sack tomorrow, so I may as well take it while I can. But I'll slow down once I reach the age of 60.

If I try & write stuff in sequence, I'll never catch up, so apologies for the chronological jumping about.
We got back from Barca about midnight last night, & I dropped Compo off at his place which is just a few minutes from the Airport, near Bishops Stortford.
"Fancy a cuppa" says he, so in I go, & I get to meet Mrs Compo & their 13 year old Daughter.
Mrs Compo is just delicious. Irish, from Kildare I believe, but she's been in the UK about 20 years, & married to Compo for about 18 I believe, poor woman.
Their daughter? Well, I have a pre-conception of 13 year old girls in this day & age, you know, modern youth, bla bla bla. But she is astonishing. She has the social skills & graces of someone 3 times her age, & a stunning personality, with very much the look of Mum & Dad. A really lovely & well-adjusted personality. They have a Son, too, Sam, I think he was in his bedroom. Playing with his train-set, one imagines. Compo never told me his Daughter's name, or I'd have remembered it, but she does have a name I think.
We chin-wagged for about 2 hours, & they offered me a bed for the night, but I wanted to get home, & was back in Derbyshire by 4am after a nice quite poodle up the M11, A14 & M1.
You may have read about a triple-shooting in Bishops Stortford 2 weeks ago, well that was just 200 yards from Compo's house. 3 guys shot dead, & two wonen stabbed. Apparently, one of the killers said to the other "shoot the women too", to which Killer # 2 replied "I ain't come here to shoot women, & I don't shoot women". Very chivalrous, eh? So he stabbed her. 14 times.
The press were camped up the road, & inteviewed all the neightbours. The shooting is believed to be "drug-related", & one neighbour reportedly said "yup, it's about drugs, but I don't suppose they killed 3 guys for a bit of puff"..........!

Behave. It was a goodly while ago, maybe 20 years. And yes, I was old enough to hold a Driving Licence 20 years ago, before you ask.

Thanks for the kind words about Rhianna (my daughter) All true of course but nice to hear to hear from someone less biased!. Son Sam was indeed upstairs having been stood up yet again by his "girlfriend". How do I tell a madly in love 18 year old that the object of his desire is taking the p**s? All thoughts and comments welcome.
I remember DER. Indeed my first TV and Video (with "piano keys") was rented from them. I was well made up. I think I rented for about 3/4 years before spending over £300 on a new JVC which was immediately dumped following their sponsorship of the other North London team!
can anyone remember the tellies with a meter for sixpence? My sis and her boyfriend had one when they lived together and if ever I visited i always liberated my dads loose change for them!

So, Barcelona. For anyone who has never been there, here goes.
The place.
Very nice climate, lots of pretty girls, & trams. Plenty of historic buildings, & there is all the stuff that was built for the Olympics. Never - EVER - go anywhere near Las Ramblas, unlesss you wannna be accosted by drug-dealers & pimps, & never go ANYWHERE at night alone, you'll be mugged for 100% sure.
The Airport is just huge, & is about 20 minutes from the City Centre. Best Hotel is the "Arts", but the Princess is awesomely good & great value, & H10 is best for the Casino, assuming you cannot afford the Arts, which very few can. Getting Taxis late at night from the Casino is a nightmare, so be careful where you stay.
The whole City stinks - & I mean that literally, the drains whiff shocking, always.
The Casino - The Gran Casino de Barcelona.
Ranked as among the best in Europe, hence they hold the World Heads Up annually, the EPT, & now the WPT. But in fact it's rank poor, & I was going to say there are many better Venues in Europe. But as it happens, Europe is almost starved of good Venues, so Barca may well be top three, but it's still pretty poor. Concorde in Vienna is a hundred times better, as is Luton G-Casino.
The Cash-Games are a well soft, but try getting a seat. The Rake is obscenely high. The Lists over the Weekend for each Table were 50 or 60, & folks were waiting 12 hours & still not getting a seat.
The flop, turn & river are dealt from right to left, but you soon get used to that. Local Law, I believe.
The Dealers are excellent.
The Bar & Restaurant/Cafe is called "The Mystery Bar", the Mystery being how to get served. I've been going there for 5 years, & my abiding memory is the Mystery Bar. The staff are sullen & rude, don't say please or thank you or sorry, or make eye-contact, it takes an age to get served, & several birthdays can pass while waiting for your food or drink to arrive. A cup of tea is a cup of water, the tea-bag arrives later. If you are lucky. Then you have to fight to get some milk for the tea, that's another 30 minute wait. Awesomely dreadful.
The Casino itself is beautifully designed, & very up-market, & it has a massive sculpture above the roof which is a sort of giant, golden tinted whale, it can be seen for miles. It's effectively attached to the Arts Hotel, right next door.
Entry takes about 20 minutes. Register (on EVERY visit) upstairs for a day ticket - Passport etc needed each time, & mardy staff, though there are usually about 8 desks open. Then you need to present your entry ticket at another checkpoint before being allowed into the Gaming & Poker Area. Registering for Tourneys is easy, & can be achieved in 45 minutes on a good day, via 2 different desks.
It's right on the Marina/Seafront/Beach, a beautiful location indeed.
