Where are you tonight Tikay   should be good cash action tonight if your passing through

Sadly, I can't be there tonight, or Wednesday, or Friday this week! Such is life.

I am stuck in London tonight, as I have a 9am Meeting in the City in the morning, (I'm scared I'd be late for it if I went home tonight), & from there, I have to somehow get up to The Broadway in Birmingham by Noon for a meet about the Virgin Fessie.

So, stuck in a Hotel room tonight, playing Online, & hungry, too. Wink

It's a power thing. The player has just won a nice pot and everyone is interested to see what hand he's got. So the player takes one last sneaky peak in private to demonstrate that he is the only one privy to that valuable information.

The winning of the pot and the concealing of the information makes some players feel empowered. He has one last look just to re-affirm that this info can be accessed by HIM at any time and it gives everyone else the inclination that he will show...but no...he has the power to deny this. It's an ego thing.

Absolutely what it is and it's fuelled even more by players then discussing the hand and wondering what he had. The player can then sit basking in the attention his play created while everyone second guesses his hand and play.

I'm inclined to agree with this.

I think it's the "tease", "I'll make them think I'm gonna show, but I'm not, haha" sort of thing.

I just see it so many times, that last lingering look. I'm sure they have not forgotten their hand that quickly! Only I can do that.....

We do behave in strange ways, eh?

Once went to a burlesque show in LA - exactly the same principle - am i going to show you or am I not, lets just flick that feather boa temptingly - and exit stage left like the cards being passed to the dealer without being shown.....I should add I was in the audience.......   And believe me there was a lot of talk about what the dancer had or didnt have!

Same principle - works best on guys in burlesque and poker - do women talk about what the last hand played was? Nope - you didnt want to show me - I didnt want to know anyway!!

OK - I'm going home now to get rest - been a very long day!!

I've accumulated a sleep overdraft, & despite two x 10 hour "dead to the world" kips, I'm still groggy, listless & apathetic. Had a busy week last week, driving up & down to Brighton twice, & of course Cardiff was vey tiring. For me, anyway, I don't seem to be able to go the pace anymore.

I must find time to reply to the Post by Rendezvous, Brighton, (a good reply by them, too), but I need some time to do it.

I'm off to London now, that's the best part of 3 hours in the car, where Poker Week are filming "The Open" at a players house, in Stoke Newington, & I need to be there for 7pm. I am supposed to "mentor" the player, poor fella! How embarrassing it will be if he/we busts out early...... I've found a Hotel on the Seven Sisters Road, I can park the car up there, then I do the shoot, stay over, & get myself down to a Chinese restaurant in Gerrard Street (is that Soho?) for a 1pm meet tomorrow with Ladbrokes. Then it's back home, I think.

Friday I'm up to Lancashire for a private function, back home straight after. Saturday, I need to be at The Vic in London by 11am to do some Poker Week Interviews, so that'll be a very early start from home, 7am I guess, (to be safe), & then I go straight from The Vic to Feltham to do the Sky Show.

And that's that then, nothing Sunday, & all that's in next week's Diary is 4 Sky Shows - Tuesday & Sunday "The Open"s, & on Wednesday, we record the first two "The Club"s, which is a new magazine show, so we will record them during the day when the Studios are empty. I think the Analysts & Prersenters will "guest" on "The Club" in rotation. I did a Pilot for "The Club" last week, & it has the makings of a cracking little show.

How wonderful that snoops ran so well yesterday in the GUKPT, I do hope he stays the course. He works so hard for blonde, & has Updated scores of Big Buck Events, so I bet he's revelling in being on the other side of the Updaters for once. I hope he runs really deep.

Note also the amazing way fate deals hands - his beloved Dana ends up sat next to him, & then he goes & busts her. I can think of many-a-couple who'd "soft-play" in that situation, & although I expect nothing less from snoops, it was lovely to see. Unless you were Dana.....

I've been at home for 2 straight nights, & so played some Online Tourneys, but I'm not having any success at all this week.

I played the LECEOP on Monday & Tuesday, & although I grinded into late position in the Omaha, I never threatened to cash, same thing in Monday's Hold 'Em Rebuy, in both cases, I could never find much to go to war with. If I'm honest, maybe my tiredness is supressing my "creative" play, & I'm just waiting for hands. Can't win Tourneys like that, though I can usually grind with the best of them in deep-stack well-structured Tourneys, as these both were.

I also had my 2nd stab at Qualifying for the Grosvenor Grand Prix last night, but ended up 2 spots short of the 5 seats that 34 players generated. During the Rebuy period, I'd been hugely lucky to bust AA with QQ, & I sat pretty quiet after that. But my Exit hand was ABC stuff, I re-raised all-in with JJ, & got called (he had the correct odds) with KQ, & that was that, he hit. I'm always wary of entering big pots with KQ, as I feel there is such a strong likelihood of being dominated by AK or AQ, but he had the odds the way the money wnt in, so no complaints.

Great to see Tom get his Seat, though. What was galling was that he had his Seat "locked up" just safter I busted, & so was pretty certain to sleep to the seat, so I could have nicked his blinds I reckon. (It would make no sense for him to tangle with nyone). But you can't nick blinds if you are not at the table.....

The Grosvenor Grand Prix is, imo, the best Comp of the year, and I've played it every year since it started. But it looks like I may miss it this year, Diary committments are complicating further Qualifying attempts, & perhaps it's better if I just give it a miss this year. There's always next year, & despite my tiredness right now, life is good with or without any single Comp.

Off-table, the workload seems never-ending right now. I never done any e-Mails or PM's over the weekend, & I've struggled to cope with the backlog since then. I'm up to date with the replies, but not with the work that emenates from them.

I'm heavily involved in the Virgin Fessie at The Broadway, & that's coming along nicely, that's gonna be some razzmatazz weekend, I tell you.

And there are shed-loads of new stuff going off at Sky Poker - which I'm loving every minute of - but the research & idea-chewing takes a huge amount of time. We have THREE new shows lined up, but you cannot imagine how much work that generates. I love it though.

The blonde Fessie in Waterford is all set up, for which I can't take an iota of credit, that's all Rich, Denis & Kev, but I need to see & pass comments on all the e-Mails it generates. Richard's energy & drive is awesome, I must say.

Behind the scenes at blonde it's a very interesting time, & I'll try & give you a full update veey soon. But lots of stuff is happening, & "the business" is trundling along very nicely, cash in the bank, no overdraft or borrowings, bills all paid, & lots of new business initiatives in the pipeline. An astonishing transformation in 12 months.

APAT is also entering it's most exciting year, & Des & Rich are carrying all the workload, I'm pretty much a spectator, just throwing in my 2 bobs worth on the new developments. The "Alternates" Rule causes us immense headaches, for all sorts of reasons, & we must have sent scores of e-Mails back & forth trying to sort out our line. (Lessons need to be learned fom Luton!). We eventually ended up having a Tele-Conference on it last night. We also chatted through our new APAT Academy - stunning stuff! - and of course, the Association, on which we are now ready to get the Members Committee formed, & the voting procedures in place.

I've been doing some work with Ladbrokes, too, as you may have noticed. I'm hoping we can get some Advertising from them, &, I can't deny, there are discussions about a Media Role on their Cruise. We shall see, & I doubt if the latter will happen, but if we can bring in some advertising revenue, I'll be more than satisfied.

We (blonde) are also in very "late stage" discussions with a huge Company with a view to working together with them in 2008, in what would be a blockbuster deal for blonde.

I'm loving all this, but hating not being able to carry my weight in each "department", & I need to make some decisions soon, I wanna do things properly or not at all.

Nice problem to have though. And yes, no need to say it. I'm a luckbox!

OK, time to hit the M1.

Better wolf down that chow - Chinatown's going on strike at 2.30pm tomorrow.

Tikay,
May be a stupid question, but I will ask it. When did you last take a proper holiday (poker trips not included)? Sounds like your schedule is becoming more hectic if that were possible.
