There. I thought the quiz was rigged, & it clearly was.
They asked "in which sport do the competitors travel backards?"
I answered "rowing/sculling, & backstroke swimming". Orford insisted it was curling, "because the chaps/girlies with the brooms move backwards". I mean for goodness sake, no wonder we did badly. Well, terribly. I shall drop him from my team for the next Sky Poker night out. Which is a Karaoke Night. Real Karaoke, that is.
And that Orpey - hopeless!
It was my first ever pub quiz. Fun stuff.

Skating too, when they're about to do a jump.

But is it really backwards if they're travelling in the direction they want to go in?

Good point - Mark Thatcher in the desert? Travelling forwards when in fact going backwards as he was lost.
Me on Sunday on way to DTD - went down the wrong slip road at Nottingham and went back doen the M1 southbound. I was travelling forwards but infact going backwards......I think this was a trick question.

Mark Thatcher, isn't that Mrs Thatcher crooked son who is into overthrowing of African Governments for his own profit?
And obviously you or Mr Kendall in a car don't count.

Aye, unless they're doing it wrong (I've tried it & it's not easy)
Tug of War's the other answer.

there're at least 2 words that end in -mt. there's the easy one and we can also add 'un' to the start of it to get a less common but perfectly acceptable word
How can you undream something?
you can't, that's not what it means.
it means beyond the imagination e.g. undreampt of wealth
So it ends in pt?
oops. not if you spell it correctly it doesn't

How about 'any horse on entering the final furlong of a race and realising that I have money placed on them' ?
The jockey will have been rowing for home for the last half a mile (but facing the right (wrong) way) and then in the last furlong the animal truly goes backwards...

Tug of War's the other answer.
That was the "official" correct answer - Rowing/sculling, & tug-of-war. Though I'd dispute the latter, as if one team travels backwards, then it's a reasonable assumption that the other team travels forwards. Unless the string - sorry, rope - is elasticated.
Pedant Rules.
