I've got some good pics of birds from travels around various parts of Africa, I'll try and post some over the weekend if I can but I think most of the file sizes might be too big to post.

Please do. To reduce them, I right click, then "Paint", "Image", "Shrink", then "Save".

They are lovely Rooks, thank you. Do you think the animals are kept in "reasonale" conditions - I suppose I mean, do you approve of Zoos?

I was not aware you were such an animal's.

PS - How do you Upload more than one picture per Post?

Not such an animal lover - what made you think that? I have two greyhounds, live half the time with 2 cats and the other half with another dog! I love animals, I think they are amazing, and would own one of every kind if i could!

I don't know really, this zoo is supposed to rescue animals and home them. It's run on a charity basis i believe. So in this case I probably approve of them. They seemed to be looked after well, all happy, all moving, plenty of space!

And finally, when you have clicked to upload your first picture just click 'more attachments' right next to it and it will open another box up. Max 500kb of pictures per post.

I dunno really, just never gave it any thought. We all put people, especially "virtual" Forum people, in "boxes", based on their Forum personna. I just never had you in that box.

If ever up in Yorkshire, go take a look at Thorp Perrow Falconry, it's stunning.

I think you said something similar to me in a PM a couple of weeks back - that you had me in the wrong 'box' - I was going to give you a mini talking too about the danger of putting people in boxes, but you are right, it's something we all do, consciously or otherwise, kind of like an internal filing system I suppose to stop our brains from getting overloaded and exploding.

It'd be interesting to hear some of the extreme examples of when you've met someone in 'real life' and realised you had them in completely the wrong box, and why.

I think I've got you in the right box btw, but decency prevents me saying which one that is Cheesy

Well I can't speak for others, but yes, I often get folks in the "wrong boxes". When I'm busy, I "speed-read", sort of scan the big bits & skip the substance, & it's maybe the same with people, I make my judgement based on the first part of them I come to know, without realising what else is there behind the wallpaper.

Extreme examples of those I put in the wrong box? Too hard that, & I've offended way too many folks in this Diary already, so I have to bite my tongue these days. Tom (Red) is one example. I always liked him, but he became a sort of onion to me - I kept peeling away the layers & finding more & more depth to him. I had him in the right box, just never realised how much was in it.

Others? Hmm, that's tricky......

You read Snat's Diary? Amazing piece of writing. I'l probably offend, as I do so often these days, but I never had him down as a gifted writer. Just a loud bloke - nice loud bloke, mind - with hardcore shoes. But when I was doing some Sky stuff with him, I suddenly became aware of how important his kids are to him - by important, I mean important to him that they learn decent values. A good father is generally a decent man in my "pre-filing" system.

Chili comes across to regular friends & acquaintances as something entirely different to the "real" Chili - she has had a very unusual life, & can look back with amazing honesty at what she did right, & what she did wrong, & how it's affected her personna.

Tom also made me realise something I knew, but never knew I knew. Anyone who loves animals ain't all bad. (No, that's nothing to do with Rooks - he's ALL bad.....). I have "enemies" who love animals, & I wonder ometimes, how can they be my enemy, my detractor? We both love animals. Don't ask me to explain that logic.

But that was not really what you meant, I fancy......and no, I'm not going there right now, life's too short.

I almost wish I'd not replied to your Post now, but bugger it, it's too late now.

Up at 0330, so it's almost time to give best. Dublin is gonna damn near kill me, all thoseFitzwilliam stairs, & a two-day Event, & I'm still aching from head to toe from Brighton, last Saturday - & that was a no-stairs one-dayer.

Have a good weekend.

Thought of one - Compo. I'd seen him on Telly, & he seemed so nice.

I just remembered the first time I ever met Snat, or the first time I remember remembering him.

We (Poker 425 I think) were at Southampton, & he Finalled (how?), & I had to interview him.

And there was thi great big bloke, wrong side of 40, worrying what his Dad would think when he saw the Interview. Because he (Snat) had not shaved that day.. That got him in the right box straight away - I love folks who respect their Parents.

Not sure what to make of this comment!

Yes, that was exactly the kind of thing I meant.  It's interesting because, especially when we only know people 'virtually' it's only a tiny part of their whole we see.  No one but ourselves know every single aspect of an individual, and that's all part of the excitment/fulfillment of getting to know someone.  You'd be right if you put me, rather than rookie, in the 'non animal lover' box, but I do find people fascinating for that very reason.   I almost always change my mind about people following first impressions.

Okay you win. You said that you could make me go bright red whilst not being in the same room. Actually at home Anne Marie is the wordsmith and I do numbers........she is not allowed to edit the thread.......it is sending her crazy

Very true. First impressions are so often wrong.

I've just thought of one I had in the wrong box - Rod Paradise. I mean, he's big & ugly, Scottish, & a football supporter. And yet he's the deepest, (intellectually) most humanitarian, caring, parent & animal-loving guy you could ever wsih to meet. And a loyal friend & ally. If I were in deep trouble, & I could only select a handful of buds to rely on to get me out of the hole, he'd be one. Proper man, but on first meeting him "virtually" I saw none of that.

Lazaroonie is another - so deep, much, much more to him than meets the eye. To be fair, there is a lot of him.

Come to think of it, I had loads of folks in wrong boxes, still have probably.

Why do so few bands have female drummers? What's the thing there?

See the drummer in this Vid - anyone know the story, what happened to her? She turned me on like nobody ever did. Are there any other female drummers? (I'm assuming it was a female?). It may be a fetish.

you keep reminding me of stuff today!  Got a letter from my daughter's school yesterday asking for £1.50 if she wants to take part in a 'drumming masterclass' next week with Jeff Rich from Status Quo.  How cool is that!?  The only people who ever came to my school were police to warn us of stranger danger and some bloke that told us not to play on train tracks.

Could they play? No. Did I care....
