Sadly, unlike Martin, the Mackay/Bremner pic wasn't a whole ten years before my time though!

I Posted a very sad piece last night about Lady Thatcher, who's been confirmed as having dementia.

"The Times" followed up today, with comment by a Doctor.

He said.....

"stress & tiredness can be a trigger..."

Which I did not much enjoy reading.

Followed by....

"...it (dementia) starts with forgetting where your keys are...."

And I'm really not enjoying the article now.

But he ended....

"...and it ends with forgetting what keys are for...."

Phew, that was close. Keys are for opening things, right?

Nice quiet evening at Luton last night, the £50 x 3 affair.

Nice crowd in, including Compo, Claw, Simon Galloway, Expressman, Dick Lynch, etc. Comp made £3,400.

Claw had the most torrid evening, everything went wrong for her. She accidentally dropped 2 oversize (500) chips in instead of 3 x 100 chips to make a call, & the geezer behind seized on her error in a flash & Shoved, & she had to Pass, & every time she found a hand, she got pushed around. She eventually busted with a huge draw that missed. I felt quite sorry for her - she's out of form, & I fancy she needed a result. Cruel game when you're running bad.

Compo lasted longer than usual - Level 2 I think - before betting his A-K on every street, (he missed) & finally shoving, with Simon Galloway cutely waiting for him with pocket Queens.

I'm running awful, too, & it really knocks your confidence & ability to make correct plays.

I managed an early double-up, nut flush v 2nd nut-flush, so at least my luck is turning, but then I bluffed half my stack off, the mistake being to make the play against a Station. Mr Station had a mighty stack - average for Final after 4 Levels, but donked the lot.

I got lucky again on the last of the "last 3 hands", when I made an intricate play designed to get my stack down to 1,500, enabling a double rebuy, but it all went wrong, I turned trips, & got paid off by A high! He had surmised I was just "getting down" to 1,500, which I was, but I was not mean't to hit trips.......

The Tourney proper stated then, & I got very lucky to find K-K against Simon Galloway, (A-K) & position & stack sizes made the play an auto-affair, & I doubled up.

I went on a run then, plenty of good fortune, & was soon chip-daddy, & Finalled as Leader. A nasty slow-roll against me in the semi by Mr R Sole put a bit of a damper on things, but the atmo soon recovered.

In the Final. my early luck was outrageous, hirtting the nut flush (again) v second nut flush, & then I found Aces against Expressmans Kings to bust him, & I knew I was running so hot it could not last. And I was right.

I Called a huge all-in heave-ho by Mr Lairy wth A-K for half my stack, (bad play by me) he had A-Q & rivered the Q, then a huge draw (flush & one pair flopped) missed against Dick Lynch, who Finalled yet again. I was pretty cross with myself for that call with A-K. Blinds were 1k-2k, I had 62,000, he had 28,000, & he had shoved first to speak. I don't need to make this Call, I can nick little orphaned pots against that Table all night & still win the thing without ever risking my stack, why did I need to gamble half my stack? I so nearly Passed it, but that would have been too bloody sensible.

Next I Raised with  & the flop came all Diamonds, but Mr Rockity Rock shoved all in. (He had trips). I bottled it & Passed.

And so it continued, & after Finalling as Daddy, & having some lovely hands early, I exited in 5th for a disappointing £170 - only my second cash since Vegas. Must do better. Nice evening, though, but I did ache a little for Claw, who's running worse than me.
