10/11 Co Favs.

was it from a link on here(to he bbc newspage i think) i read about a goose or one of these things gobbling up a pigeon whole in the middle of a park in london and everyone was watching in horror?

(p.s if you hadn't mangled the book so badly i'd be on the snake all day long)!!

I don't recall that Mr Bolt Sir. Geese, in general, don't really go with this eating other birds thing. Geese are used as "guard-dogs" in many parts of Africa, they make a whole lot of noise, but they are harmless I think.

But this pic is, I assume, along the lines of what you were alluding to. The big bugger is, I think, a sparrowhawk (Rod Paradise will confirm), & the not very well one is  - sorry, was - a pigeon.

Bongo posted about this.

let my try and find it.................

I think it was definently a pelican then, like the pic with the dog.

I remember the gamekeeper(or whatever they call the bloke that looks after the park) saying that he's never seen anything like it and that the pigeons and ducks and pelicans etc had all co existed for years but this pelican just picked up the pigeon, played about with it in his mouth for a while(and everyone was watching in horror) and then(not like how the hawk in your pic has mangled the pigeon) just gulped him down in one go!

GREAT pic Tom, thanks.

How do you manage to make your pics come out that nice big size? Mine come out all sizes, almost at random it seems.

Shame you can't get down to Brighton today. 1 hour clock. 15,000 chip. All levels. 150-300 Level repeated, with 25 ante..... Wink

Astonishing. As bolty says, there may have been history there - this was probably "afters". Literally.

Do you think this is a photoshop mock-up? Something does not look quite right here.

Do you think this is a photoshop mock-up? Something does not look quite right here.

It does kinda look like the pigeon is just resting in there as oppossed to struggling for his life, or maybe it was taken in a time when pigeons and pelicans lived in harmony and the mouth of a pelican was a good hiding place from Kev Livingston.

I think ive sussed what happend in the other one.............

pelican 1: "you know what dave, youve changed since you got married, we dont see you anymore, when we all go out you have to go home early, all the boys think so, what happend to you man"?

pelican 2 "(dave) Roll Eyes what you talking about i'm still one of the lads"?

P1: nah, not really mate, we feel like we dont even know you anymore, theres not really much point in us hanging out together"

dave: "you serious mate"

p1: "yep, tell you the truth mate, you've gone boring, i didnt want to have to say it but there you go"

dave:(getting a bit emotional now) listen i'm the same old me, same bloke who you've known and respected all these years, nothings changed, seriously, please give me a chance, i'll prove it"

p1: "oh yeah, how"?

dave: "eeerrrmmm........hang on, erm..........i'm gonna.....no....wait....erm...  RIGHT, WATCH THIS!!!!!!!...................................AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!     <gulp>

p1: " JESUS CHRIST DAVE I WAS ONLY JOKING, I WAS ABOUT IINVITE YOU PLAY BOGGLE AT PETERS GAFF TONIGHT! SHIT MAN!!!!

Ridic story bolty, if you ask me. I've never heard of a pelican being called Dave. Beatrix Potter would call a pelican Peter, I'm quite sure.

Jeez, what a week I've had, so much to catch up on - a cocktail of huge fun, & incredible angst, the latter caused by people wasting/stealing my time, which I will never forgive.

Stuff to do today, blog to write, PTP tonight, but for now, until I can get caught up.......

This, in today's Times.

"Burress could face jail term after shooting himself in leg.

Plaxico Burress, whose touchdown catch won last season's Super Bowl for the New York Giants, could face jail after accidentally shooting himself in a nightclub on friday night.

Burress, the wide receiver, had visited Latin Quarter, in Manhatten, carrying a concealed handgun. At some point, the weapon slid down his trouser leg. As he fumbled to retrieve the gun, it discharged, the bullet passing through his right thigh".

It would appear that Mr Burress is not the brightest of chaps, (the hat is a clue), but at least he can take comfort from the fact it could have been worse. Wink
