I was a regular at gala going almost daily for a year before i moved away from notts and i am a little surprised that ken has been into DTD because i remember him saying openly on more than one occasion about the resistance gala is putting up to it and made it clear that he didnt want to see it open.

Not everyone at gala notts was a cheat but there were a few and im glad to have seen the back of them. However, i met a lot of good friends from there who i will stay in touch with for a long time and look forward to making my way up to DTD to see these guys again. It will make a huge difference to a lot of them in notts now theres an alternative to gala. It seemed to me that the main issue with gala was that one or two customers seemed to have the management bending over for them and were able to influence decisions about the place.

Well done to rob and everyone else at dtd

Little bit concerned about this thread...am a student at Notts and I often go to Gala late on a Friday night for my live poker fix...can't say i've ever suspected any cheating they always seem like fairly soft games...only reason I would go to Gala over DTD is convenience after a night out in Notts...perhaps not now, there is substance to these "rumours"?

You weren't on the table at that point, this was miles beforehand. It was when when I was on Dave Shoelaces's table.

Every poker room I have been in has its fair share of cheats, low life's and angle shooters just like every where else in society.

I could not agree more, but a room where house dealers are not provided is fertile soil for them.

Who exactly am I not welcomed by ?

I'm not not aware that I am unwelcome at Gala as i was there this summer and it was never mentioned.

i didnt really want to post on this but i just think that it needs to stop before it gets out of hand.
i play at gala alot and i will now be at DTD alot.i think its unfair that everyone who plays at gala are being portayed as bad dishounest people.i have some very good friends at gala and there are people there that have helped me through what has been a very difficult year for me.
please dont judge all gala players when you dont know each and everyone of them.i think the name calling needs to stop from everyone.im not taking sides and for most notts based players its not about gala or DTD,but about getting the best of both.

Pleasure to play on your table at dtd -- and I think you are correct this could get into a "my place is better than your place" and will get out of hand. Regardless of the past histories this should now be water under the bridge. Freedom of choice is great. So go choose......

I don't play at Gala, and never have done so.

However, I don't see the positive side to alienating a part of the poker community.
There may be elements of the Gala experience that inevitably don't match with DTD, but at least Gala have provided an opportunity of live poker in Notts over the last few years, and I am sure many of you have benefitted from this.

As for the players there being cheats etc.., as already has been alluded to, some of the players are, or will be, common to both DTD and Gala, therefore you cannot criticise one without, by implication, criticising the other.

There appears to be a perception that Gala, as an organisation, is all things bad - in part this must be due to their resistance to DTD, and the way they went about this.
But sinking to a level of petty and bitchy criticism doesn't exactly smack of taking the moral high ground.

I think that some people are missing the point here.

Nobody, especially me is suggesting that all of the Gala Nottm. players are dishonest, that would be ridiculous and untrue.

Speaking personally I look forward to playing poker again with 90% of the old Gala brigade who's company  I have missed greatly after enjoying it for many (15+) years, and I also look forward to not playing with the other 10% who have caused me to make a point of avoiding them for the last couple of years since Rob(Nightfly) ceased being the cardroom supervisor.
