It was noted last night that Iron had pen & paper with him at the table to take notes, there are others that do likewise.

Just a thought, however as Blonde are looking to make this a regular update on the monthly comp and it looks like the comp will increase in numbers in future making it more likely that good hands and exits may be missed. Would it be possible to make up small pads of hand notes to be made available to the tables so that tables may be able to note down interesting hands that are missed by the updaters?

Something on the lines of post-it pads pre marked with:

Blind level............

Bets pr-flop................. Flop Cards..XXX
Bets post flop.............. Turn card..X
Bets post turn.............  River card..X
Bets post river.............

Cards shown............... P1..XX    P2..XX  P3..XX  etc

Winning hand.....xxxxx
Pot size..............Huh??

I'm sure these pads can be printed up and produced at a decent price.

Just a thought

Geo

This is an interesting idea but when I'm playing I would have to say that this is the last thing I would want to do - i would rather concentrate on my game. But if people want to do that let them - all information is gratefully received.

I am obviously disappointed that we are unable to be all to all men/women, when updating it's difficult to watch 8 tables at a time when there are three of you and then get back to the desk to report on the hands. I have great admiration for the likes of Snoopy, Jen and all the professional updaters who make it look so easy. I love reading their reports as they bring the whole tournament alive.

The difficulty is covering everything, it just isn't possible, we would need a crew of at least 10 to do that - especially early on. One updater per table, and two people typing the information in. Think about it - as soon as you leave the table to get back to the computer you miss any more action that happens - it's just one of those things.  Thinking about it further - we would need at least 11 people - we would need a runner to take the info to the typists!  Start playing more on the Blonde card room people - they need more money to provide these free services to you.

Regarding who we report on - you have to take the action you see and report accordingly - and I for one was more likely to report on players known to the majority of Blondes as it's a countrywide (actually world wide these days) forum. I tried to inject some local colour and included players like Richard Berridge.

Having said that this competition was played very fast, a lot of players appeared to play this as a one day competiton and what should have been a two day comp only lasted one. We had our first player out in the first 4 minutes and Tikay wasn't even there!! Therefore you can only imagine the amount of action that took place all at once, it was very difficult to report two days action that was actually condensed into one!

I'm sure that as the blonde updaters get to know the local players they will be included more, it's very logical, I'm sure had updaters from Nottingham reported on a Luton game the criticism would have been the same.

As for saving money by using local reporters, I haven't cost Blonde a penny. I volunteered,I haven't taken any expenses even though they were offered.

I'm sorry if my reporting didn't meet everyones requirements - the fact that I was a last minute stand in is no excuse, I should still do a job properly or not at all - but I did what I could.

Thank you to DTD and especially Simon Trumper and Danny, we were very well looked after with food and drink (although no alcohol passed my lips) from DTD. Thank you so much to them for looking after us so nicely. It was a good comp and next time I would prefer to be playing it!

Again apologies if I/we missed people.

Nice post Tracey, and as a regular viewer of all the live updates, I actually thought that you all done a good job last night. Like Taximan, i don't complain at anything that's for free anyway.

My thoughts were for the people who seemed to know that there were updaters there and chose to highlight the fact that they or hands that they had been involved in, were not mentioned.

This is so often the case, people complain after the fact, they never seem to highlight it at the time.

If I were that keen I would have no hesitation in introducing myself.

I first thought about this a while back when during one of the live updates DC took the time out on one of his tables to scribble a note of an interesting hand to one of the updaters as he thought (quite rightly) it deserved a mention.

This can easily be done by someone at the table not involved in the hand or even during the subsequent hand by someone not involved in that.

I believe that if players were briefed beforehand that this was available and that they can have their progress watched by friends & family at home, quite a few would be happy to oblige, hopefully whilst doing so, also adding to the Numbers on the forum, especially if the note pads have Blonde logo/website on them.

god i wish id never had an opinion.
tracey i sent you a pm to tell you the post was no offence to you or tighty but you can take that however you wish.
i have been an avid blonde supporter for 2 years now but never did i think that having an opinion that differs to the majority would cause this much grief.
i never once said anything personal about the updaters, but certain people have run with what ive said and turned it into something else.i find that sad tbh.
again, next time i hope im there and will offer help to the updaters on players if they wish..however i dought that will now be the case.

sorry if i offended everyone

my comments weren't aimed at you or anyone in particular tracey so I appologise if I caused any offence as non was intended. I was trying to say there is a lot more to live poker than the usual faces thats all and this comp was an ideal chance to give some other players their 15 minutes of fame. Maybe its because we have been spoiled in the past with snoops etc giving us his wit instead of the usual Red dog folds and is shortstack/ironside first out and already in lapdancing bar/Tikay has fallen asleep again comments Wink

hats off to anyone who tries updating- I've helped out once or twice and it was bloody hard work and I usually lasted a few hours then went to the bar.

I think, as has been said before, all feedback is well received as if all points are taken on board it can only make things better for the future, I can't see that anybody could take offence to your post Fran.

Fran - I haven't taken offence - I would tell you if I had!!  Smiley I am a great believer in exchange of views!

I was merely explaining why I found it difficult to meet everyones expectations and how I wish I could have done. I hate not being able to do something to everyones requirements - I like to do things right but unfortunatly everyones right is different!!  Roll Eyes

Constuctive critisicm is essential in my view to help grow and improve, and I think a lot of the points raised are very valid. It's the first DTD update and I'm sure a lot of this will be taken on board and used for the next one. That's why Blonde is so good at this - the powers that be listen and act on what they can.

No one should ever be worried about making comments imho - this is a forum for goodness sake!!   Smiley

I hear what you are saying Ariston, and I know you haven't been on the forum for a little while, so I'm not sure if you are aware that there is now a non interactive thread as well with only the action being relayed. It's a great addition imho as it cuts out all the posts from readers and only shows reported hands.

With regards to your comments about Ironside etc, I guess we react to the mood of the forum and there was no doubt that the forum was buzzing with the 'Ironside' possibilities. He is a popular member of the forum and people were naturally interested in his travelling from Scotland to play in the game. To try and keep that to a minimum we did start a separate thread 'Ironside watch' to keep that out of the normal update thread a bit but still please the forum members that wanted to know how he was doing. Even now people are posting trying to find out how he is doing in the £200!!

Anyway - lets see you playing in some of these soon - haven't seen you at the tables in ages - would be great to play against you and when we both get knocked out you can show me where the bar is........

Thought i'd add my tuppence worth

Good content, good update, but I tend to agree with Fran.  Please don't flame me for this, but DTD is now the new flagship for poker and its where i'm now taking my roots to play.

Most of the Gala Notts players are now playing at DTD and they are a lovely friendly crowd and something which you don't find in many card rooms but the term "Notts players" are pretty much DTD locals now and how fantastic for one of the best cardrooms on their doorstep.

I think a local updater imho would be better because they know all the players and the "Faces" but also the way that DTD have set up their system Danny Bell (TD) could give you a players name from his system if you didn't know the persons name but maybe they were chipleader at the table and you needed to know for an update.

Its not just local knowledge thats needed but an all rounder who can liase with all poker players and not just "Faces", getting facts, chip counts, photos and its damn hard work, been there done that with little gratitude at the end, but we all love the updates and keep them coming
