Whats the deciding factor for people when buying a policy?

Is it cost? Reputation? Claims handling?  Policy features and benefits?

Sometimes you need to pay that little extra to make sure in the event of a claim your well looked after.  I'm not going to try and sell the mob I work for but generally we are pretty good in comparison to most other insurers.

Ohh and some of the comparison sites aren't worth a feck!

Why not? Are you saying people can't save time and money using them, ever?

Not saying they can't save time or money, there are a helluva lot of glitches in the transfer of data and they leave out some key information that when later disclosed can change premiums drastically.

If I was going to use one i'd use gocompare.com

I used one of these sites late last year.  After clicking the link to the site for the cheapest quote and going through the motions, the actual premium was about 70% higher than the comparison site had generated.

Well, I hope they're better with the quotes than they are with the way they pay their affiliates.

I recently ran my details through Only group's comparison service (the one we now have on our site instead of gocompare), and when my insurance is renewed in April, it looks like I'll be saving over £100.  I guess that's age...

Been with Esure for the last 3 years however when the letter arrives I always go online and do a search for the cheapest and Esure always seems to come up trumps but as a NEW customer I get a quote of apprx. 10% cheaper than the renewal quote. A couple of years ago I rang Esure spoke to a supervisor and was informed this is because they are looking to recruit new customers and offer better premiums, I gave him the saved quote number from my online search and renewed at the cheaper price over the telephone. Strange that the same company can give different quotes for new customers and existing customers. Also I discovered that it pays to get quotes on several different days since premiums also appear to change on a daily basis. My renewal quote came in the post yesterday, not due till the end of month so quite early for them to be sending out a quote by past years, was quoted a premium of £337.00. Did a supermarket/broker type search and once again Esure were the cheapest at £303.00, I've saved the quote and will do more searches over the next fortnight to see if it can be bettered. It's amazing that years ago before the tinternet we just seemed to accept whatever quote we got and didnt do our homework, goes to show how much we must have been ripped off in the past.

thanks guys..was sure M3boy would know, man I love Blonde as an info source Smiley

Kin how much are you saving by having it as the wife's car (I take it you are added driver?..does your wife still have her own car as well?..and what the hell are you driving that's a group 20? ABMW 735 and Jag xj6 are only group 18 Smiley

Boldie,

if you are looking to insure a jag which is more than 5 years old, then get yourself a membership to the jaguar enthusiasts club (about 40 quid), and then get a quote from footman james insurance. They will do newer jags on a classic type policy, which will be much cheaper.
