Interesting things, weirs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weir
How did you chance upon that, Tom, what was the thought process, what led you to it?
I must say, I had never thought about the purpose of a weir, I thought they just sort of happened to be there. How wrong could I have been? I thought they were, by & large, good things (for nature), but it would seem not so.
Shame, I rather enjoy being by a weir, & listening/atching the water pour over it.

I was thinking about the weir at Luton Hoo, and the way that it affects the ecosystem.
I, like you, assumed that a weir would be a good thing ecology wise. The one we saw attracted sticklebacks, trout, a heron etc....
I often see a kingfisher working "My" little weir on the Soar brook.

I haven't decided yet, but I do like the idea of criminologist. I'm also toying with archaeologist and anthropologist. (Gynaecologist might be worth considering, just for the crack)

Both Mrs Red & I have sweeteners in our tea. When she went on her holls she took the dispenser with her saying "There are some more in the cupboard".
There are some more in the cupboard, but they're not in a dispenser, they,re in bulk bags.
I take three in my tea, and as of yet, I've found it impossible to tip three out of the bag. I can get one, then two, then four. I can get two at a time, I can get five all at once....
It's the same in reverse. When I have too many in my hand, I try to shake the surplus ones back into the bag, but I always shake one too few or one too many in.
It would do a time and motion man's head in.

Just got it without all the studying malarkey?! That's most excellent news. In that case I'm going with a twofer - paleontologist and biologist. I'd been keen to see what made/makes the world tick and reckon those two would be a good starting point.
