Currently reading "Dear Fatty" by Dawn French, (I know I know!) and I've just found out what the difference between a memoir and an autobiography is.

I've abandoned Dawn French. Good story but couldn't get on with the writing style.

If Mrs Red starts a book or a film, she feels compelled to stick with it right to the end, even if it's crap. I can't do it, I just dump em and move on. (kinda like I do with women actually).

Currently reading

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Narrow-Dog-Carcassonne-Terry-Darlington/dp/0553816691#reader_0553816691

The jury is out.

The dog is the star in Mr Darlington book if I remember. Distinctive style of writing.

I'm not sure I like his distinctive writing style. Narrow Dog to Carcassonne looks like going the same way as Dear Fatty.

It's a good I get my job my books from Oxfam.

Yeah I finished it. 5/10 from me.

I heard on the news yesterday that several departures form Heathrow have been cancelled because of fog.

Why can't planes take off in fog? I thought the instruments could do it without the need for anyone to see anything.

My dad died in a plane crash in fog many years ago.

They aren't sure what happened but they think he probably got disorientated trying to land in the fog, he'd been flying for 20 years so it wasn't like he was inexperienced or anything.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Andrew.

I have some questions but I'm not sure if I should ask them. I don't want to be insensitive.

No he was flew as a hobby, him and one of his best mates shared ownership of a twin engine cessna. He did have a passenger that day unfortunately, it was someone he was giving a lift down south as a favour.  Sad

It happened close to Biggin Hill airport, like I said before they think he probably got disorientated in fog but they don't know for sure.

I was actually supposed to go with him that day as well, but he left dead early and I couldn't get out of bed in time to go with him lol, fate 'n all that  Smiley

But surely a commercial airliner, such as those that were grounded yesterday, would be able to take off and land on instruments alone?
