I've become interested in the words people use to describe something small. It's surprising how it varies as you move around the country.

A jot.
An ort.
A smigen.
A tinch.
My current favorite, an eighth of a frazzle.

No Rich, come back. I love pedantry. It educates, it stimulates conversation, and it proves you actually read this drivel.

Mrs Red wanted me to start the skidmark post with "A friend of mine....."

Get your arse back over there.

Today, we are mainly doing Lehman Bros, CDO's, CDS's, etc. Right up your street.

Good one.

I always thought that a soupçon only applied to liquid, but it seems I was wrong.

Noun
soupçon (plural soupçons)

A very small amount; a hint; a trace.

Add a soupçon of red pepper. Coffee with a soupçon of cognac.
No one is so depraved that a soupçon of goodness cannot be found in him.
