Do you have to run the new teeth in or can you red-line all the gear changes up to "overdrive" straight away ?

When it comes to animal behaviour, it's so easy to make incorrect assumptions.

Kizzy often accompanies me when I go out in the car or the pickup, and if I have time (which is almost always) we pull over and take a little walk.

When we return from our walk, Kizzy always pauses near the door of whichever vehicle we are using and waits for me to open it. Because of this behaviour, I assumed that she knew which motor was ours. This puzzled me a bit. She wouldn't be able identify it by it's sound because it wasn't running, and smell wouldn't be much use, (cars only have a 'personalised' smell on the inside) and anyway, she still knew our car when we approached it from down wind.

That left sight as the only other means of identification, and dogs just do not identify things by sight. (If you walk down your own drive and affect a limp. your dog will bark at you)

Still, facts are facts; she always paused near the door of our car. I had to assume she recognised it.

Today we parked up as usual and went for a walk. As we were walking back to the car, but while we were still 30 yards or so away, I took my keys out of my pocket. Kizzy immediately paused by the door of the nearest car (a nice BMW 3 series, deffo not mine) I moved on, she followed. I rattled the keys again and she stopped by a Ford Focus.

It was the sound of the car keys that Kizzy was using to identify the right car. She doesn't know a Range Rover from a Reliant Robin.

There's plenty if you'd like to come over.

I had no idea that Derbyshire Social Services didn't provide MOW on weekends, but the bone is spoken for.

I watched a film last night, "Bound" (great film btw)

The lead actresses were both stunners, but I was sure I had seen one of them before. When the credits rolled, I realised it was Jennifer Tilly!

WOOF!!  Ow Ow Owwww!!! Hubba Hubba!!!!!!

I might have to think about dumping Minnie Driver.

That Tony Kendall! What a knowitall he really is.

I went to Nottingham to play DTD on Sunday and Tony asked me to get down there a bit early so that he could show me something. Yes it does sound like a dodgy proposal, but I knew that as long as I didn't let him get me cornered, I could outrun him. (He's a smoker you see)

I needn't have worried though, he just wanted me to see this great new place that he's just discovered "Nottingham Arboretum" (More of which later)

 Here's a link  http://www.digicam69.co.uk/arboretum.htm

When I say "Great new place" I don't mean it's a new place, I mean it's new to Tony. He didn't know about it before, which is pretty amazing because he knows everything else.

After our arboretum visit we were driving back to DTD when I realised that I was in a part of Nottingham that I used to know very well, and so we parked the car and went on a wonderful nostalgic walkabout. as we walked, I blathered (as I am prone to do) about anything and everything. Some of it was really obscure stuff, but it didn't faze Tonypedia

I began a story with "See those asbestos sheets on that roof? They are called"Big six"

"I know, he replied, "I used to sell those"

"See that hospital...." I ventured.

"Yes" he came back. "Queens medical centre, I built it"

"Remold tyres..." I began, and off he went again.

"There used to be Remolds, or retreads, and on crossply tyres you could buy a device for cutting your own tread..."

"Scrap is a good price now" I said hopefully

"I used to buy and sell scrap iron, but of course, back in those days...... yada yada yada"

"See that scale over there?" I asked him in a resigned sort of voice.

"The correct term is weighbridge, I used to install those...."

Sigh...  I'm going to talk about swingletrees next time, that will flummox him.
