I'm another ex-Leamingtonite - lived there from 1999-2004. I spent many a night in the Jug and Jester (which subsequently got bought out and homogenised by some corporation), followed by a late feast at Ali Baba's, purveyor of fine Indian cuisine.

It really is a beautiful town (north of the river) - Jephson Gardens is a lovely spot for a stroll.

If you want a good demonstration of just how weak gravity is compared to electromagnetism, rub a balloon on your jumper and use it to pick a few tiny bits of paper up - the tiny amount of electricity you put on the balloon easily beats the gravitational pull of the entire Earth on the paper.

It's funny how things work out.

I've never been to Lemington but last week I had to go twice for some business stuff.

Also, Mrs Red has to go into hospital for a small op. The NHS can't fit her in so they're sending her to a private hospital. Guess where?

She goes in on October 1st, which also happens to be our 36th wedding anniversary. I've told them to make sure she's good for at least another 36 years.

Just to go back to atom bombs and stuff, when they create, (actually release is probably a better word) when they release energy in a nuclear power station, they must be able to make the explosion happen slowly, yes?

I'd like to start a little 'Good things that happened to me yesterday' series and post in it regularly. Please feel free to join in.

Good things that happened to me yesterday.

I met Ralph at DTD after not seeing him for ages. We swapped 10% of our Grand Prix winnings, (Which means he owes me a fiver, lol) and he described his new sandwich making process which involves fitting lettuce leaves to the inner surfaces of the bread to prevent the mayonnaise from making them soggy.

I got a tighter, longer hug than was strictly necessary from Maria.

Someone who may wish to remain nameless loaned me the first three series of Breaking Bad.

Dispersed a bunch of 30 odd drunken teenagers who were congregating outside of an elderly neighbours house. What really surprised me was that they all apologised and moved on straight away without objection. We have a better class of chav in my village.

I finally bought a new car to replace my old Fiat. I felt like I was cheating lol. I've had her since 2006 and covered 152,000 miles and she's never let me down.

Well done you, and especially well done the teenagers. Bout time they got some good press.

So you replaced your faithful old car eh? I made that mistake with my ride-on lawnmower, (Tony warned me, but I wouldn't listen) now I cut an acre of grass with a push mower.....

Great contribution to the 'Good things that happened to me yesterday' series though, please keep them coming. (Especially the small stuff).

I learned the other day that the average lifespan of a car is 13 years.

They use control rods which absorb the neutrons released and mean there's less of them flying about to trigger more reactions.

So the reactions are just the same, but there are fewer of them?
