Does #50 on your list have a preference as to which way the aforementioned loo-roll is facin g?

I'll tell you what does piss me off. Beautifully made hand basins in public wash rooms that have had the original tap head removed and replaced with a push button.
They probably have to do it as part of some water saving scheme so that people can't leave the tap running, but these taps were not designed to have buttons and what actually happens when you press one is 2 gallons of hot water per second gushes out but stops the moment you let go, which means you have to dangle one hand at a time, in a huge torrent of hot water while the other hand holds the button down.
Estimated water use, 25 gallons per hand.
Estimated degree of hand cleanliness, 60%.

Guess what I saw on the motorway today?
A bloke was driving in the middle lane while the nearside lane was empty and a police car came along and pulled him over. Hooray.
Motorways would be much safer if they started prosecuting the dangerous manoeuvre brigade and the middle lane owners club instead if concentrating on the speeders.
Give me a fast driver who is concentrating over some dawdler who's mind is elsewhere any day.
In fact, I think, given the option I would do away with motorway speed limits altogether.
Is driving in the middle lane all that dangerous though? Most countries don't have this rule, or a rule like it, they let people drive in whatever lane they like and overtake on both sides. I think our rule is better, but I think people get annoyed about it out of proportion to its dangers.
I think I'm more or less in agreement with Doobs on this one. If someone is hogging the middle lane I either have to slow down and wait for a gap in all the other traffic that has been forced over to the right lane, or I have to swoop by on the left hoping that he/she doesn't choose that moment to wake up and move in.
Swooping by on the inside is just compounding the risks created by Mr Middle Lane Hog.
Agreed.
What I usually do is pass on the right, then pull across the front of them and into the inside lane in a very pointed manner whilst wearing my best pompous face.
If "Mr Middle-Lane Hogg"(distant relative of Quintin) is doing a steady 70mph should he not reasonably expect other law abiding citizens to drive within the legal limit too?
If so he's not causing a problem, he's actually setting a good example.
Not much rattles my cage these days, but those self righteous bastard who drive two abreast at 49mph in the 50mph limit sections of the M1 make my blood boil.
"I'm not pulling over because you're not allowed to go fast enough to overtake me"
Twats.
What about when the inside lane is closed a couple of hundred yards ahead and a self-righteous lorry-driver, usually alongside one of his mates, blocks other cars from shooting up the inside and dodging the queue?
Does he rattle your cage too? I'm okay with them fwiw.
Just checking to see if your grumpiness level is approaching mine or Anteeks's.
Those self-righteous drivers, (it's not just Lorry drivers either) are helping to create a bigger tailback than is necessary.
Queuing traffic approaching a lane reduction should use all available lanes and merge in turn at the point where it is necessary. any fule kno that
Not sure I completely agree with that. If the traffic is moving it is best to get into the open lane asap. Drivers that cause other drivers to brake to let them in ultimately cause the traffic in the queue to stop and then a huge tailback builds up. Once that has happened it doesn't really make any difference imo.

I don't know why I wonder about these things but I do.
Yesterday during a project I removed 32 screws and then later I replaced them. The screws were identical so I replaced them at random. How many screws are likely to have ended up in the original hole?
I don't think we got to a definitive answer on this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derangement
The only quite interesting bit (if I have understood it correctly) is that the chance of no screws being in their correct hole reaches a limit of about 36.7% at a count of 7 and is always that figure thereafter. ie the chance of you putting 10 screws all in the wrong hole is almost identical to putting a 100 screws all in the wrong hole.

Cant edit - I think that the answer to your question is that 0 screws and 1 screw* have the same probability of .367 and any other permutation is lower than that.
correct screw in hole 1 is 1/32 and no correct screws in he other holes is .367 So 1/32 x 32 x .367 = .367
obv if I've misinterpreted the wikipedia page this is nonsense......

That'll be me, then.
In order to pull into the left hand lane if I am alongside another equally sensible driver doing 49/50, I need to either accelerate (& in doing so, exceed the speed limit) or slow down, & infuriate Mr Impatient & Mr Intolerant even further.
And believe me, if you have ever lost your driving licence for 6 months for speeding, you don't EVER exceed speed limits again. Even if Mr Impatient is sitting on my bumper. Chill, a few seconds longer on your journey won't do you any harm.
Best regards,
Mr A Twat.
PS - Love Uncle Ralph's new nick for me, it works so well - "Anteeks".

I found this chap drowning in the dog's water bowl so I rescued him and he hissed at me.
Anyone know what he is?

yes and presumably he was hissing because he was having a bath and not drowning at all.

Yes, Ralph, according to Wiki you are right.
Had I known it was called that I would probably have let it drown, it sounds too dangerous to live.

We did Scafell Pike on Sunday. It was 10 miles of tough going and it nearly finished me off.
I took a few video clips on my phone, if I can stitch them together and they're not too embarrassing I'll post them.

Your feet better?
Yes Simon, thanks for asking. that's why I'm making the best of then while I can.
After 3 years of limping around and trying to find a cure, I'm completely better.
I tried everything. Stretching exercises, rest, physio, heat, cold, massage, cortisone injections... Nothing worked, or perhaps everything did because it suddenly started to get better and within a week I was cured.

What a fabulous day.
Is it just me? On days like this, (Well on most days actually) I feel kind of guilty for being healthy and happy and relatively care free.

Glad to hear, it is a funny condition in that it seems to just spark up for no particular reason. Fingers crossed it stays away!
