Happy Birthday Tom

I'm sure you're being spoiled even more than usual

Don't make the same mistake I did Kev. I missed my opportunity to buy Celtic dinner and I've regretted it ever since.

Your day will come!

Happy Birthday Tom x

Any fool knows this isn't right. I'm struggling to believe that it's even true.

I saw it on Breakfast news this morning and couldn't believe what I was watching. That poor bloke and his family and 93% of other wrongly accused victims of this policy.

He was found guilty because his semen was on the diary of a child who was 8 years old at the time she said it happened  He was found not guilty as that wasn't proof beyond reasonable doubt, as the possibility was raised that the semen was from inside a condom, and doubts were raised about the witness.

I do not know the truth here, but this doesn't feel like 100% either way, but the appeal decision looks right, as the conviction didn't look beyond reasonable doubt.  He hasn't been found innocent.

A lot of miscarriages seem more obvious and the 93% rejection stat feels too high.  But do we pay 500k compensation to those that we think are 80% likely to have committed a crime, or those where we think it is 20%, or only when it is 0%?

I think it is really tricky and not a black/white thing.  Maybe the test for compensation should be like a civil case where we just think they are likely guilty or innocent on the balance of probabilities. So if Conor McGregor had spent time in jail for his alleged raping, he doesn't get compensation, but maybe this guy would?

Sounds like he wants his bollocks cutting off.

Quite a swing?

To me he had 500k inheritance and he should have spent it on living well, now he was released  He didn't really need another 500k.

If I am innocent, feck those who don't believe it, I have 500k, my life isn't really ruined.

If I am guilty, woohoo fooled them bozos, I have 500k, hand me a beer.

Though think there should be a middle path where we can go, you may well be innocent, here is some compensation (maybe 100k, not 500k), and you can go sell your "I am innocent" story to the highest bidder.

Wonder what the alleged victim makes of it all? Maybe we could split the compensation with her?

If I was found sort of innocent but not fully then I like to think I would spend more time trying to clear my name first than getting compensation.

I think people might be getting hung up on the specifics of this case rather than the general principle.

If a court finds you "not guilty" - then you are "not guilty"

That might include all the actually guilty people who there wasn't enough evidence to "prove" they were guilty - but it also includes all the people who were found not guilty - because they actually didn't do it.

The actually innocent people can still spend their life savings on the court procedures to get them out of prison - and they're still 93% likely to not get any of that money back.

Rishi Sunak's resignation list.

Rishi Sunak gets to hand out a big bunch of Knighthoods, Peerages, OBEs CBEs etc.

BECAUSE HE RESIGNED?

What the Hell is going on?

Christ on a bike!

How much pride can someone have in a honour bestowed upon them by Lis Truss?

Mrs Red: How long is this golf on for?

Me: Four days. Tell you what, why don't you pick five players and I'll put you a quid each way on them.

Mrs Red, browsing the list of runners: What about Justin Rose? I've heard of him.

Me: Naah! Don't bother with him, pick someone else.

Now she keeps asking me why his name is at the top. "Does that mean he's in front?"

God help me if he wins it.
