Amazingly, the Police, in their even-handed statements, use the term "Gypsies", whilst the Daily Telegraph pointedly, & throughout, & the Tory Councillor, describes them as "gypsies".

The Telegraph has given it a negative slant but it's actually quite a good initiative.
Mrs Red has her invite, and will no doubt be bending a few earholes and marking a few cards.

Wow! They are stunning Andrew. I didn't even know they existed.
Been reading up on them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengal_(cat
)
Fascinating.
I'd only heard of them 4 months ago. Was pleased to find a localish breeder.
Their temperament is really gentle with a very playful side.
The funny thing is they love water which I think goes against the majority of cats.
I've been thinking about getting one of these for ages - apparently they are very intelligent, will jump right across the room onto your shoulder, very affectionate and great pets - but I'm a bit worried that it might get bored and basically tear my place apart.
Let me know how you are getting on with them - fascinating cats.
They definately are a handful, but they are so affectionate with it. They're both trying to climb the curtains as I'm typing this. (Their favourite hiding place is on the top of the curtain pole)
It was a bit of a mistake buying them when we did as we're just extending the house so when we're out of the house we put them in a large dog cage (minus the dog) in the living room.
When the building work is done they will have the run of the house when we're home but contain them in a 'safe room' when wer're out to limit any damage, well thats the plan.
EDIT: Sorry Tom, hijacked your thread a bit.

It's about people accepting us for what we are, an ethnic minority. If the Telegraph wrote about jews with a lower case "j" it would leap off the page. but no one notices when we are refereed to as gypsies.
People still use the word gypsy to describe any nomadic, caravan dwelling group. In these enlightened times, they still don't stop to think that that might not be the case.
Whatever you do, wherever you live, if you are not a Gypsy, you can't decide to become one.
If you are a Gypsy, you can't decide not to be one.
At the moment, the law in this country states that to retain gypsy status (Lower case "g") you must travel in persuit of your living.
This means that a true Romany Gypsy who has been forced to settle down because they are too old or infirm to stay on the roads is no longer classed as a Gypsy, but someone else, who has no gypsy blood at all can buy a caravan and claim Gypsy status.
Until people realise that Gypsy is something you are, and not something that you do. life for us will be difficult, and we will have to carry the can for every bit of wrong done by anyone who lives in a caravan.
It is still not considered politically incorrect to be openly racist where Gypsies are concerned. Pubs still put signs in their windows saying "No gypsies allowed". People who don't know what I am openly accuse gyppo's of all manner of things in my presence
If the government bodies, the policy makers, can't be persuaded, (or don't understand enough) to refer to us using an upper case "G", what chance do we have?
(Type the word "jews" and the word gypsies, and then run the spell checker on this forum, see which one it picks up on)

This. 2k for a party for 400 people that improves community relations? Sounds like a bargain to me and I'd suggest that the councellors attend this.
If it was 20k to host a party for 400 kids noone would be complaining about it at all.
When I worked for a planning agency I read quite a few reports about Gypsy settlements and how to deal with the illegal ones...some of the language in that was actually quite shocking and if it had been used about any other minority some councellors would have had the sack (or at least have been accused of being racists).

Ah, flattery. One of my many weaknesses. It was great to meet you to.
Yes, I'm happy to say that the hand you saw was quite typical of the average £1/2 Texas cash game at DTD. Last weekend, (both Sat & Sun) there was well over £20k on the £1/2 table, and it was not unusual to see the betting go £2 - call call call call. Raise to £200 - call call call call.......
I'm a scaredy cat though, I only play the nuts, and even then I need a crash helmet and a botox injection before I dare enter the pot.

Welcome back to your diary Tom
Why aren't the players sitting this deep playing a larger game, blinds wise? say £5-10 would be more appropriate?
Are there enough £1-2 £200-400 stack games running concurrently for those wanting to play a more conventional game?

Mostly, it's just one of the £1/2 cash games that "Gets big" There are usually enough conventional £1/2 games
I don't really know why they aren't playing a larger game, but I for one certainly wouldn't sit at at £5-10 game. (I know that seems to make no sense given the way the £1/2 game sometines plays, but you kinda get more choice about how many big pots you enter)

Is the rake less in a £1/£2 game than a £5/£10 one?

There seems to be a wide range of 1/2 tables at DTD. Some are full of players who aren't rolled for 1/2 (not to play there consistently), and those games are usually the softest. Then there are the ones with the stronger players who are not only better players, but are evidently rolled for the game and comfortable with several thousand being in front of them on offer. Then of course, there are lots in between.
What would people suggest the correct bankroll should be for someone who wants to regularly play the 1/2 games - and for that matter, the 5/10 game?
