I noticed this the other day. It were in a spot where t' 'oss had done his business in t' back field.

It's the first time I've seen a tree pitching camp. Will update on progress next summer, assuming we both make it.

Regular pictures needed Tom so that you can do one of those time lapse videos if it makes it.

Don't just leave it 'til next summer. Take at least 1 every week especially now while it'll doing it's fastest growing.

If you can set up a little makeshift platform for your camera so that every shot is the same it could make very interesting viewing.

That's a good idea.

Years ago, when I used to do gardening and tree felling for a living, a customer asked me to remove some shrubbery to make way for a patio.

Hidden amongst the lilacs and heebie jeebies was a tiny little plant. He was about 4 inches high with a few glossy green leaves. The lady of the house told me he was a mock rose.

Later that day, when I arrived at the tip, I somehow couldn't bring myself to throw the little plant into the gaping maw of the woodchipper, so I filled an empty paint tin with soil, stuck the little blighter in there, and took him home.

Over the next few months, as he sat outside the caravan in his tin, he had ample opportunity to die. The frost froze him solid, we forgot to water him and the sun shrivelled him up, the kids knocked him over, and a caterpillar ate the best two of his three leaves. He was a stubborn little sod, but I can't imagine how he managed to cling to life.

By the time we moved to where we are now, he was at a very low ebb. There was more potential in a lolly stick. Feeling like I was granting his last wish, I found a nice sunny spot and gave him his freedom.

That was almost 10 years ago. Since that day, he has never looked back. He just goes from strength to strength.

He came into bloom again yesterday. Ain't e 'ansome?

What a belting plant, if they can live indoors I'm pinching a cutting next time I visit.

Bloody Hell! I never went on a school trip like that....

... mind you, come to think of it, I never went to school.

Isn't the Terracotta Army fabulous? Apparently, every piece is unique and individual.

I know what you mean, when I were a lad it was a weeks camping in Doset.

The Terracotta Army are fantastic and it's amazing that they weren't discovered until the '70's (I think)

Hey Red - I'm pretty sure that plant is a Camellia.  They're an abso pain to keep happy, so fair play to you for managing it.

Noooooo...  I don't want him to be a Camellia. Anyway, Camellia's a girl's name.

I had one of my most scary moments of my life at Cheddar Gorge. I went Potholing with the local college, I almost crapped myself.
There was an Asian lad with us who's nickname was Slim, well as you may have guessed he was anything but slim and yes he got stuck whilst entering a hole head first. Took us half an hour to pull him out. 'Twas comedy gold. lol

NYC Theatre Trips for us

No joke, I was took to an abattoir's in Nottingham. I was about six at the time and I remember (in fact I'll never forget) a little boy called Robin Day asked permission to take a cows eye from a carcass that was hanging up. Unbelievably the teacher said yes and he gleefully pulled it out with his bare hand. It made the most horrible squelchy noise you can imagine.
He also brought it to school for the next two days in a plastic bag, and the teacher didnt seem to mind that either!
